I am pleased to have been asked to get involved at the organizational level of the Annual Preppers Meet for 2025. Last year’s meet in Alliston was a huge success and it was great to get back to the event after a decade away. The organizers, vendors, presenters and attendees were all great folks.
For next year’s event, things are getting changed up a bit. This year, we’re hosting an entire week of preparedness activities and training. Yes, actual training!
It all starts on Monday, July 7th with a wilderness first aid course, which is so complete, it will spill over into Tuesday!
On Wednesday, there will be another full day course on navigation including compass usage, GPS, triangulation and more. Not to be missed!
Thursday you can join in for ham radio training, baofeng practical application (in field training) and offgrid, encrypted communications (Meshtastic).
Friday really kicks things up a notch with animal dispatching with a pig and rabbits. Also offered will be a hands on canning demonstration where you can preserve your own rabbit! Honey mead and other survival foods will also be discussed as well as primitive preservation with a smoker set up on site!
Friday evening there will be a Emergency Preparedness Simulation, as well as a discussion on bugout foods such as mice, frogs legs, worms and more. Samplings will be offered for the brave.
Saturday will be the usual busy day with a variety of topics such as proper use of a shotgun, day long archery range, and hopefully the black powder rifle event will be back! Also not to be missed is a large presentation on bugout bags.
Saturday night is always the biggest event with the keynote speaker. This year, the APM proudly announces that the keynote speaker will be none other than Tracy Wilson, VP of the CCFR (Canadian Coalition for Firearms Rights). This is the one presentation you don’t want to miss!
Sunday will continue with a variety of presentations and topics to be confirmed at a later date.
