Hello from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

I have been interested in “be prepared” since Scouts Canada days in the 70’s. Current prepping focused on the 72 hour go bag, which grew to maybe 10 days now.
I am a technology guy, with career spent in related business consulting related to that. I am not a HAM but played some with Baofeng UV-5R and other radios.

After enjoying many SHTF TV movies, and books, my conclusion about surviving a longer SHTF events, is that solo is not the best way. It’s impossible for one person to have all the right skills and resources, and much more practical to have a network of people who can come together with the right skills and resources. E.g. food, land, security, medical, radios, technology, etc..

My hope in joining this group is to expand my skills and knowledge, but also to make appropriate network connections people that might mutually help each other in SHTF situations.

Nova Scotia - Real underground bunker

I see that the famous WWII DiefenBunker in Debert, Nova Scotia (near Truro), now seems to have plans to become a modern day VIP underground bunker in 2026.

The vision on their website at removed link ">The Diefenbaker is quite impressive, but clearly based on a template. The phone number is fake from a generic template, the social media links don't work, and the terms and conditions are still in template form.

Has anyone contacted them, or know anything about it? There was a bit of reddit chatter a few months ago about it.

In a few years, I will be transferred in British Columbia, probably around Prince George.

To my mind, the only way to survive consist in developping a solid community around you, so I'm interested in starting to create a local network right now. ^^

Apart from all the basic prepping, my objective is to build a resilient home and community.

COVID19, winter #2….

Wave #4 is waning, the country is at 80+% of “eligible population” vaccinated, kids vaccines are around the corner, Delta variants is now just a thing and we don’t hear as much about variants of concern.

Yet, there are still a great deal of shortages in the most random of goods, inflation is going through the roof and worldwide apathy is at its highest level in forever. Did I mention that the Chinese government messaged the masses about stockpiling?

Keeping this if the real of reality (let’s keep lizard-people of the table), what are your predictions for the winter to come?

Did China Actually Tell It's Citizens To Stock Up On Food?

In case you haven't heard, there is a story from MSM that China has warned it's citizens to stock up on food and other necessities.
Now, even though I consider this guy a bit on the alarmist side, Canadian Prepper actually took a reasonable stab at the whole situation.
Now, DW works with a Chinese national, who saw the story on Mandarin television and they claim that the translation to English is indeed accurate.
