                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[I've contacted the Amateur Radio Service Centre to inquire about obtaining an Amateur Radio Certificate. Apparently my Radiotelephone Operator Certificate (Aeronautical) qualifies me for an Amateur Radio Operator Certificate with Basic Qualification.<br><br>I assume that this certificate is somewhat restricted, so I'd be interested in expanding my knowledge and upgrading my license. As I haven't used ham before, this is all new to me. I'd be interested in any study materials that you feel will aid my progress...<br><br>Equipment is another hurdle and I expect that this will take some time to get a handle on what's required and what features are desirable. Hopefully, with your input I can avoid some of the 'rookie mistakes.']]></content:encoded>

                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[Spending some time at the camper, so I decided to try out some qrp.<br>I threw my 29.5' longwire into a tree, running down to the trailer.<br>I powered the radio with a folding solar panel, and set up all the wires, etc.<br>Getting spots on RBN up to 840km away!<br>The only downside right now is powering the small laptop.  Right now I have 110vac at the trailer, so not a huge issue for these tests.<br>I have a small battery but my inverter is at home.<br>I've ordered a 12v power adaptor to run the laptop, but that will still draw more than I would like.<br>Time to look into other options for sending the CQ to the radio!]]></content:encoded>

I am wanting to develop a small at home CB post just for local traffic if something happens here. <br>I know I could invest in a HAM Radio and I do have plans at some time in the near future to get one set up. <br>Is there a brand of CB Radio that is able to run off a standard wall socket plug? I was also thinking that if I do need to up and move quickly the CB would also switch over to a vehicle so I have a mobile comm system as well so it would serve a couple different roles. <br><br>I am new to the prepping thing and slowly starting to work on a bug out bag, due to my area, my plans are to bug-in as I'm pretty secluded so best chances would be for me to stay where I am.]]></content:encoded>

                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[I'm looking to replace a fuse for my CB Radio.  <br><br>It came with a Type 6G2A Fuse, which is 250V @ 2Amps.<br><br>I can't find that exact fuse readily...but most stores carry 250V/2Amps but a different type. They are slightly different sizes but fit just fine when inserted into the fuse plug for my CB.  I picked up some 2Amp/250V fuses which are labelled as AGC.  <br><br>Are these okay? Am I reading into this to much and a fuse is just a fuse...?  Just wanna make sure I'm not doing something wrong. Any help/direction appreciated...some snickering anticipated... :lol:]]></content:encoded>
