Hello from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

I have been interested in “be prepared” since Scouts Canada days in the 70’s. Current prepping focused on the 72 hour go bag, which grew to maybe 10 days now.
I am a technology guy, with career spent in related business consulting related to that. I am not a HAM but played some with Baofeng UV-5R and other radios.

After enjoying many SHTF TV movies, and books, my conclusion about surviving a longer SHTF events, is that solo is not the best way. It’s impossible for one person to have all the right skills and resources, and much more practical to have a network of people who can come together with the right skills and resources. E.g. food, land, security, medical, radios, technology, etc..

My hope in joining this group is to expand my skills and knowledge, but also to make appropriate network connections people that might mutually help each other in SHTF situations.

In a few years, I will be transferred in British Columbia, probably around Prince George.

To my mind, the only way to survive consist in developping a solid community around you, so I'm interested in starting to create a local network right now. ^^

Apart from all the basic prepping, my objective is to build a resilient home and community.

Hello!
I have joined the network to branch out and find like minded individuals hopefully close to my area. I am a 33, single female whose been trapping alone for four years, I went and spent every penny to be completely offgrid or at the very least extended camp outs. I am serious about living in balance with nature and bring a lot of knowledge to the table as a veteran army chef, who is currently working bought land and I intend to buy more remote soon.

Checking In from Mexico

Hi all,

Health coach here from the states. I flew here about a week ago to Mexico, now in Oaxaca. I have an IT background and studied engineering.

I am looking for a group, either in the US, in Mexico, or wherever I can go that has a farm, access to food growing, fresh, clean water. Preferably off-grid, with access to internet. And safety measures thought of and set up.

I can help with health questions if people need.

The one gun that does it all?

Actually, there is no perfect answer to the one gun question. But after years as professional gunsmith, firearms dealer, competitive shooter, and gunaholic, I have come as close as I can get for myself. Maybe as close as anyone can get?

The one gun I choose is the Chinese / Canadian M14 rifles. These are incredible values, have been getting better and better for quality control over their decades long run, and one of the few Military type semi auto rifles NOT RESTRICTED in Canuckistan. These rifles are labelled either as 7.62 NATO, or .308 Win, depending on which batch they came in with. In reality, regardless of what it says on the outside, most of these rifles have long chambers, more suitable for the thicker, stronger cases in 7.62 NATO. A gunsmith check of the head space will reveal if any individual Chinese M14 is suitable for the safe use of .308 WIN ammunition. in my experience, about 1.3 of these rifles, especially the newer ones, have .308 SAMMI approved head space.

As a former professional gunsmith, with decades of extensive experience on GENUINE US GI M14 rilfes, and the American and Chinese clones, I feel that a Chinese M14, in good condition, or possibly with a few US GI parts as upgrades, is the best bang for the buck available in Canada for a prepper rifle. If I could only have one guns, this is the gun I would grab in a SHTF situation.

I must say we are few and far between..hard to meet and greet with like minded people

I have been a part of forums for over 17 years...I did an online radio program dealing with pandemics..myself and a few others(the others are in the US)

Hello everyone, just thought i'd say hi. Always been fascinated by the survivalist mindset but never thought i would be on the path to it myself. Would love to get more skilled in this area and keep feeling like i should start now in some way, I know lots of people who hunt and fish etc but no one who is an actual survivalist type.
