Well Isn’t This A Pickle!

Can anyone, especially all you readers here, say that the events of the past few weeks haven’t been interesting to say the least? In fact, I would dare to say that every Canadian has been polarized to recent events in one way or another. In the past, I have been very cautious and outright unwilling to let this blog as well as the forum enter into the political debate. The reason for this was simple. We have this site to provide Canadian based preparedness advice and to share ideas in regards to skillsets and other preparedness topics. Political discussions often degrade rapidly into name calling and outright arguments that detract from our goals.

Now I find myself faced with something so disturbing, so egregious, so outwardly disregardful of charter rights and freedoms, that I just couldn’t stay silent. It was a pickle. Do I continue avoiding political issues such as this in the hopes of avoiding arguments? Do I publicly put my foot down and say enough?

In the past, I’ve always encouraged those that have political grievances to steer conversations towards a way to prepare for them. How do you prepare for something like this? Simply put, you can’t. There is no bushcraft skill, no piece of gear, no tips or tricks that can help. In all honesty, I believe the only thing left to do is protest. We can protest by driving a truck convoy to the capitol. We can protest by using social media. We can protest by expressing our views. That is all we can do at this point.

With all that in mind, there really isn’t any other choice for me than to protest by the pen (or keyboard in this case). I can protest by decorating my car with Canadian flags. On that subject, I have never in my 50+ years seen so many Canadian flags in the province of Quebec. Heartwarming to say the least! I can also protest by informing myself, by paying attention to alternate news sources, by verifying MSM stories as I watch hour after hour of live stream footage.

There really is no more choice. There is no more excuse to avoid this political dumpster fire. The Canadian Preppers Network is taking a political position. That position is that the Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms must be upheld. Enough is enough.
