Hi!

I'm new to this forum, but have been looking into prepping for a while now. Are there other members in the Red Deer area? Would love to meet some folks who don't think I'm a nut for wanting my family to be fed WTSHTF.

Also, I would love to know where people are getting Food Stores in this area since I've tried and can't ship in from the US.

I heard there was an outfit in Lethbridge but don't know the name. Any help much appreciated!
Thanks!

Farmerette

Welcome Farmerette,

If you review all the Alberta posts you should find at least one more from another in the Red Deer area. They also wanted to meet up with others in the Red Deer area. If that doesn't work for you, then post where and when you will be and see who in Red Deer shows up. It has to start somewhere.

Cheers,

Mountainman.

Farmerette, my family is in the area. We have not been very active on this board for a while mainly because it was not very busy a while back but that it now seems very positive. We have met a few folks and wouldn't mind sitting down over a coffee and see what happens. A neutral area is best for both parties at first, we are willing to discuss almost anything, We don't fit the "doomsday prepper" type, sorry we are not that far out there. We don't have a bunker or a school bus to evacuate to. I have carpentry and plumbing oilfield background. Served in the military. We have a nagging feeling the economy is not about to rebound. Although Alberta is insulated right now with the oil revenue most prov/states are in bad shape not to mention Europe is on life support borrowing money it doesn't have!

We live in Innisfail so maybe 3 hours but we have an acerage near Coronation so under and hour I suspect. The acerage is a little over 6 acres with house and old baby barn but has all services now.We try to week-end there in good weather but not always possible. We do shut it down and winterize each fall.

I am located in Red Deer and looking for other preppers in my area. Is there any meetings here at all? I have seen the Nanton group meetings and wondered if there is a group here that has the same ideas. Thank you !

Hi FierceAria,
Welcome to the group. I know for certain that there are some members of the forum in your area. They will be in touch I am sure as I have seen their posts in the last few days. Will try to get some contact for you.

FierceAria,

If you are having a luke warm response, take the bull by the horns and set up a meeting. Maybe on a Friday afternoon in the parking lot in front of PeaveyMart. Once the meet and greet is finished everyone can slip into Peavey to pickup a few supplies. Maybe a mile or two of barb wire or a new shovel.

Just a thought.

With a group finally speaking up in the Red Deer area, I hope you all manage to get together.

Cheers,

Mountainman.

Show of hands for those that would be interested in a meet in Red Deer area. Open to suggestions for a meet up point and date. Plan on 45 minutes and if all goes well can last as long as required. I would suggest depending on number interested might dictate location. For example if only a few respond then maybe the foodcourt at Parkland, if a large number then similar to the Calgary group and a parking lot maybe Alberta sports hall on Hwy 2. Not fishing for information, disclosure is up to each individual. I have met some great folks and would be interested in who else is out there.
