I was browsing the sub forums here and was hoping to see something about the current Ebola outbreak, can this sub forum be added?

Anybody else worried about this yet? This guy got on the plane without any symptoms and by the time he got of the plane was vomiting and died 5 days later.

Looks like since it's not airborne it might not get that bad even if it goes across the pond:

http://www.freep.com/article/20140728/NEWS07/307280143/Ebola-United-States

<<<The virus — which has an incubation period of a few days to three weeks — could easily travel to the United States through infected travelers, says Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota.

“A case very well could fly out of Africa, only to be detected in some distant country,” says Osterholm, who served as an adviser to the George W. Bush administration on bioterrorism.

But Ebola “would not pose a major public health risk” in the United States, he says.

Ebola is unlikely to cause large outbreaks here, he says, because people need to be in intimate contact to spread the virus.

While Ebola is a fearsome disease, it’s actually much harder to spread than respiratory infections, such as influenza or measles. Those viruses pose a much greater threat on a plane or any confined space, says Osterholm, who notes that people cannot spread the Ebola virus simply by sneezing or coughing.

But Ebola does spread readily through body fluids, such as blood and saliva, Osterholm says. On a plane, a sick person could potentially contaminate the bathroom if he or she vomits or has diarrhea.>>>

Looks like there is a case in Hong Kong, so it can definitely travel. As for the guy that got on the plane, from what I've read, he actually was showing symptoms when he got on the plane. And they still let him on! They are trying to track down the people he may have come into contact with, which is going very slowly. Good thing it's not airborne or we would be having major problems right now.

Honestly , governmernts need to shutdown travel " to and from " this area and any other similar situation areas.
Are we afraid of insulting people or countries ? The death toll has hit the largest recorded Ebola outbreak
in history, at a time when travel goes everywhere .

Anybody travelling back from such an area, should be quarantined .

It might not be airborne, but if it got into Canada or USA or Europe , it could really spread.
Imagine if it got on board a cruise ship ?

Canadian Dr just came back from Liberia where he was treating Ebola patients, not quarantined … http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/group-says-canadian-doctor-who-treated-ebola-patients-not-in-self-imposed-quarantine-1.1936922
