At Preppers Meet 2024, I was lucky enough to win a Peak Refuel Base Camp food bucket generously donated by Briden Solutions. Thinking this would be a great bug out bucket, kind of a grab and go thing, I wanted to give each and every meal pack in that bucket a taste test. Could I live on this stuff for any amount of time? Would I feed it to my kids? Let’s find out one meal at a time!
This week I tried the Peak Refuel Beef Pasta Marinara. This meal surprised me with some great flavor. It’s not spicy, so if you like a bit of bite, bring along something to boost it up. This meal is very mindful of something I would make for my kids. Beef crumbles, pasta, and a sauce makes for a comforting meal that everyone would like. If you’re thinking it’s going to be all pasta and no beef you would be wrong. This is packed with protein filled beef nuggets.
This is again, a one serving pouch and was plenty filling. Let’s take a look at some of the specs…
Out of the total 180 grams in the package, 49 of them are protein and puts 1040 calories into your system. Saturated fats are pretty high in this meal at 160%. That being said, this isn’t meant to be eaten every day, so it’s not as big of a deal as some might think.
All in all, I would rate this a 9/10 only because nothing is perfect and I really can’t put my finger on what would make it a 10.
