Me too
So I got this movie on iTunes for my Apple TV it was only 12 dollars and I really liked it it really opened my wife's eyes to what could happen
Preparedness is like a condom , I've rather have it and not need it, rather than need it and not have it
I like a happy ending but this was a little too neat, forgiving and perfect for me. With an awful lot of pothead filler.
It's based on a reasonable premise, though, and makes a few points worth taking away.
It was $4 USD to rent from Amazon, if that appeals to somebody more than a download.

That looks worth watching. Reminds me a little of one I saw recently----has anyone watched American Blackout through National Geographic...I'd recommend it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYoXxVnTePA
Seen that too good show really showed how people can get

I think Goodbye World was a horrible movie...
Is sorry you feel that way girl cancan but it has some eye opening points in it but what did you not like about it
Preparedness is like a condom , I've rather have it and not need it, rather than need it and not have it
I agree with Girlcancan. I've seen way better B movies for sure. I respect the fact that there was a couple of things they brought up that are worth while mentioning(e.g. storage conditions and such for meds, extra filter for water...), however 90 mins spent perusing a few of the discussion threads on this website would be a much more productive use of time... in my humble opinion. I also think that although this movie didn't portray peppers as nutty as the TV shows do, it still didn't do any kind of justice to the solid individuals that I have met. Just sayin'.
Live, laugh, love and learn!
Thank you canadian girl for clarifying that I wasn't sure what people didn't like about it but I see your point I think the interesting part was when the soldiers at the end said he was a criminal and he was taking advantage of everyone else which is exactly what the soldiers where doing
Just my two bits anyone else got an opinion

One of the other points was how quickly the farm turns into a target. There was one line to the tune of "nobody (the residents) likes all the strangers up there" that I found telling. We have property that's been ours for 15 years, but we have no family in that area and we are still the "new" people even though we have always made a point to buy local for supplies, etc. On the other hand, back home, 15 miles from a grandparent's previous home in another location, we belong because we're Nana's little girls from way back when, not strangers of one of several ilks or weekenders.
Then you have the fact that the chick with the video calls the meds "ours" when diffusing the situation. It's more acceptable possibly, since she was an invited guest presumably for the long term, but shows the same mentality of "what's yours is mine" that the neighbors and soldiers did.
More minor points were the amount of land under cultivation for a homestead, and the amount (and way) they "terrace" the hill in the end - growing and landscaping are kind of my things, though, so I notice that kind of stuff.
I'm not allowed to watch shows or movies about Iraq or Afghanistan, either, unless they've been previewed because I tend to pick apart things like EOD clearing buildings and a platoon sergeant or leader driving a vehicle with troops in the back.
And on that note, the gear shown available to NG was as physically off as it could be, from no plate carrier or at least flak to the caps (and way they wore them), and the LBV and patches (or lack thereof of stuff the army loves to festoon all uniforms with) just killed me.
It did take a 180 from the usual prepper movie, with total aversions to guns left and right. A guy who makes meth amid a group of rural residents and farmers, with none of them possessing a hunting or self defense or coyote/cat gun was another of those totally annoying points.
Just one, and you're not trying to support yourself, neighbors, AND two heavy-drinking, thieving deserters.
And what was with keeping Lenny around after we finally offed the bigger jerk?
I kind of found it to be the movie version of one of those skinny "she twisted her ankle and swooned into his arms" romances, done for the pothead culture and preppers.
I can see trying to use it as an intro movie to a girlfriend or somebody, just to test the waters for their reception to the idea of preparedness and open the conversation about what might really happen.
Otherwise, there have been movies about a super virus human or electronic.
The Matt Damon infection movie from several years ago was better as an eye-opener, in my opinion.
Contagion was a great movie I really opened my wife's eyes like world war z to

With the good prepper points aside. The storyline was crap, the dialog was crap and I wasn't a fan of the hippy-kumbayah-ride-off-into-the-sunset joke of an ending. I give it a big FART SOUND with two thumbs pointing down. It's like they had an awesome idea for a movie but it went totally wrong...
