I have noticed in the last few weeks that there has been a larger number of new people joining. I have also gotten into talks with strangers in lines at stores where they have started the conversation on prepping related things. Yesterday a little older woman started talking about water storage. Rather odd since we were in the bulk food store and I was just picking up a few things. It must have been on her mind and she needed to get it out. She seemed very worried that she had no way to collect or store water. I explained about rain barrels, where you could purchase them and it money was an issue then just use a plastic tub.
I don't know if it is due to the media getting involved, the preparedness week or the weather effecting crops. Anyone else finding the same thing?
At the range where I work, we also sell guns. In the past few weeks, I've had a number of people quietly tell me that they're buying because they think something is coming. Two of my co-workers have confided that they are starting to stockpile food and supplies. People are slowly starting to wake up.
Those who are unwilling to defend freedom, will become unfree.
Do you think people are starting to panic or just worry?
Wow, I have noticed this too. Maybe not to the same degree. But the Mejico forum had some new entries (not much participation yet), but is interesting.
I have noticed many new names recently also, and almost everyone said they have trolled the forums for a while before joining. I also think that there are many more people out there with that so called feeling of something going wrong... and probably have no clue theyre preppers yet.
I trolled for about three months before I joined. I regret not doing so quicker as it is great to feel a part of such a fantastic community of like minded individuals.

JOIN ALL TROLLERS! WE WELCOME YOU!!!
I think the message is getting out there. Media is definalty playing a role in my opinion, as it helped me arrive here. For myself it was reading the novel One Second After combined with some events taking place shortly there after that made me realize that our socitey and "human nature" might not have been protrayed to far off in his novel (being in Vancouver for game 7 last year is that event).
A couple months ago I happen to be having lunch with two co-workers from different ends of the US, and we are all in the water industry and "safe" drinking water came up and this slowly lead in a HA-HA comment from one of the guys who watches "The Walking Dead" zombie series on TV. While thru that HA-HA moment and my responces and the responces from my other co-worker we both figured out each other were preppers, but both have alot to do and a long way to go.
