Karen emailed with the following info;
I am on a very tight schedule right now. If you want to announce to everyone that if they want to show up ... but no Fields of Nutrition, no anything..... $10. I did this for one group already and again on the 2nd of February for another group. If they want the extras... $20... no extras... $10

One emailed me... I'll send him a message back .... its fine if people pay there. Please let them know that!! Thanks so much Ed!

Howdy GTA & Durham Region Peeps, Feb 16th, backup 23 following weekend in event of Winter Storms .. see new details just below.

Date change, to get more interest...
Ok.. 16th it is and the 23rd as a back up in the event of a storm/ice.

EDIT
* Cost - $20 - this includes a hard copy of Fields of Nutrition, a free PDF copy of Free Food from Foraging, and a (homemade) sample of vinegar because I like to show everyone just how easy it is to make things at home.
* Anyone who comes on this walk and wants to return for a spring/summer walk will pay $15 and at that time will get a free copy of an ebook I am working on now about the pine tree (won't be ready for about 2 weeks).
* If there is a third walk later in the year, for those who come on the first 2 tours, cost will be $15 and there will be free samples.
* February 9th. = changed to the 16th !
* Location Secord Forest and Wildlife Area:
Secord Drive.... east side of Concession 3 just south of Goodwood Road.

- In the event of inclement weather the date will be February 23rd. Wild_E and I will determine no later than 11am on Febrary 9 if we need to postpone to the 16th. So please check the forum! before you leave!!!!

I ask for payment in advance. Interac e-bank transfer or PayPal (they offer many forms of payment options). NO REFUNDS. In the event someone does not show up they have automatically reserved themself a spot for the second walk.
So.. If paypal or pre payment is the issue, PM me and lets chat and see what we can do!

If you choose to pay by Interac e-bank transfer then please send payment to my email: k.stephenson@ediblewildfood.com . For the secret question please use... "What is Charlie?" with the answer being "ground ivy" (all lower case). If you use PayPal my account there is karenanne24@hotmail.com.

Thank-you so much and I look forward to meeting everyone!
(scouting two different locations this coming weekend, for Durham Region locations, nice walking areas with loads of Wild Edibles showing in winter time)

look for this in winter!

Plantain seeds in winter

Now if the interest is so high that we can run a Saturday and a Sunday workshop, the more the merrier and the better for everyone.
These folks also sell some Field Guides and nutritional guides on Natural Edibles as well as some neat spices for health and flavour from the Weeds!

* billeting, camping might be able to be arranged with local Preppers. (I know some have offered to do so in the past)
car rides might be available to be arranged as well in advance for the non driving GTA folks.
Camping only at my place, unless you want me to set up a Canvas Tent for you!

I am running the Event, Karen is the specialist Guest Speaker Tour Host. The price pays for her 1000's spent learning this stuff , you get a field guid, PDF and some free samples to try.
please sign up, confirm, pay Karen in advance. If we can not fill the 20 spots from the huge amount of people from the GTA/Durham Region, we will open it up to non preppers from other sources.

Right now I have Christmas brain and too much going on. I'll let you know in January when things settle down. Sounds like a great idea though!

It sounds great. I would be interested in learning about winter foraging in that area.

If your home library contains more volumes about survival-related topics than your local public library, you might be a prepper.

Secondary,
Last Summer we went to Richter's Herbs, there was a nice little turn out. I have been thinking that we could ask for another talk by the very knowledgeable fellow, this time in one or two of his fields, so more hands on, less in the one room. He mentioned his father sowing the one field with basically ever plant seed that they had and then forgetting about the field for 15 plus years!
Gold.. sounds like a golden spot to search around and learn in. This way he does not have to pull and show, just walk and show, let us PICK 🙂

In re to the above paragraph, I am pretty sure I can arrange that.
But...that sounds like a spring/summer activity, not sure theres much to find up there this time of year.

As for the Feb day meet, im in.
Sat works best for me.

quick update on the price and what you get.
location date time to follow

from Karen
I normally charge $20 per person and that includes a copy of my Field of Nutrition magazine and some hand outs. Although typically time designations have always been 2 hours I have yet to have a tour in less than 3 hours. Sometimes I have stayed around for 4 hours. Mind you that is when there is a lot of edibles to learn about. Now - much less. The largest group I've had was 32 people. I usually average 20-25.

This is an excellent value, field guide and a hands on. Truthfully, I have a small field guide now, have stood in a field looking at the plants and comparing page by page, not so easy to do!

I the organizer was going to bring my dog, I do understand allergies all to well. Would she bother you when we are outside? If so, then I will make other arrangements, she normally goes with me and is very loving and friendly so never a problem before. Sorry to hear, allergies to a Dog, how horrible.

Perhaps since your a wild forager, we could get a January walk together for other winter foraging with you showing us the winter goods?

We're in.

We would love to go back to Richter's again. Not only was it informative (Mr. Richter and our own presentations) but, it was great meeting so many like minded people.
I think we need these face to face connections. We can exchange so much more in a 5 minute conversation than hours of typing.
