When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.

Day 26 –

Well shut the front door! My trusty home weather station is predicting snow! Although it won’t tell me how much and can only predict somewhere between 24 and 48 hours, we are for sure getting snow in the next day or two. Just as the yard begins to show signs of life with the occasional blade of green grass, we are getting dumped on. Just how long this will set back our plans remains to be seen.

With that comes some additional work to be done. We have to now make time to bring in some extra wood, cover up things that had been uncovered, and drag the snow shovels back out of storage. Of course, that time has to come from somewhere, so we have to reevaluate our time and schedule. Thankfully, it’s not a huge inconvenience and only took us an extra hour or so. Leisure time is always the first to be sacrificed.

Packages continue to come and go, but to a lesser degree meaning income is lower. Thankfully we have been putting away some money for a rainy, or in this case snowy day. On the upside, limiting our outings has certainly lowered our monthly budget. Another big help has been a switch in our grocery shopping. Yes, we continue to buy food but only at a selection of a few stores who we trust to keep proper distancing measures and even then, only buying sale items with an emphasis on storable items.
