For the next week I’m going to be posting sporadically. I’m off to the Preppers Meet in Alliston, Ontario again.
My week will begin with a 2 day remote first aid course. This course is being offered by Hard and Fast CPR and is part of the Preppers Meet larger “Prepper Week”. Each of the 2 days of the course will span 10 hours and include about 50% outdoor instruction. This is a certification course and certification is provided by the Canadian Red Cross.
With Monday and Tuesday filled, one would think I can relax on Wednesday in anticipation of the bigger long weekend event starting Thursday, but no such luck. I’ll be joining the rest of the organization crew setting up for the hundreds of preppers this event draws every year.
Thursday kicks off the long weekend with Bugout Dan giving a presentation on maps and compass work at 10 AM. This will be followed up with Shotgun Fundamentals at 4PM (no firearms please).
If you have a Baofeng radio and want to learn how to program it, I’ll be giving an in depth talk about doing just that both with the keypad and by using a laptop and the CHIRP software. Bring your radios, laptops, and programing cables as this will be a hands on workshop. Join me at 6PM in the upper hall.
We’ll then end the first day with a discussion about the ethics of animal dispatching with Jeremy St. Onge at 8PM.
Friday gets started at 9AM with a permaculture workshop hosted by Shelley Chernoff.
Moving right along at 11AM, you have a choice of Mead Making or The Apocalypse Apothecary.
David Arama is back this year with a wild edibles/medicinals workshop at 1PM. Also at 1PM Tell Stacheruk is back and doing a rabbit dispatching workshop. This will be followed up at 3 PM with Aleks Rakocevic, a classical french trained chef. Perhaps we’ll be treated to something special?!?!
Also at 3PM Richard King will host a Preparedness Simulation an event not to be missed!
Friday finishes off with John Anonymous talking Privacy 101 at 5PM and River Ziemniak talking Mushrooms for Survival at 6.
Saturday is always a big day at the Preppers Meet. I won’t take up too much time discussing everything, but the highlights are the ever popular fire challenge, Che discussing Mutual Assistance Groups, Myself and Omar talking prepping using AI, None other than Tom Marazzo will be there discussing his new book The People’s Emergency Plan, and ending with our keynote speaker, Tracy Wilson from the CCFR.
Sunday is also packed with workshops about firecraft, knife sharpening, pocket stoves, and the plant detective.
