hi all, type these words into google...alberts government anti terrorist team...... the first story you should see is the article i refered to in a previous post. Like many of you the thought of the local police acting as military personel to deal with a terrorist threat in canada does not appeal to me either.
By the way guys, the info on the solar panels has been very good, im still doing my research but to this point am getting a much better understanding of what a set up might look like. Thank guys for all the input, lets keep this going, we all benifit from the sharing of this info.
gmurphy,
Thanks for the heads up on INSET.

Here is another link that may cause an eyebrow to be raised in wonder, shock or amazement. Regarding personal ownership of body armour in AB. Or soon to be lack of it.

Enjoy. 🙁

Ya body armor isnt allowed in b.c. either and neither is fortifying your home. Gangsters hav made it so we r not allowed to protect ourselves anymore. If i cant purchase, id like to know how to make it...
mountainman, thanks for the links, i will be looking into those tonight, and i just had a thought..... cheap body armour, duct tape a cookie sheet to your chest!!!! hahahaha, sorry had to throw out a bit of humor!!! have a good weekend everyone
gmurphy,
You may have better luck if you laminate cardboard between multiple cookie sheets. 😉
Humour between scary points, good work!!
Mountainman.
PS - maybe just duct tape, it must be bullet proof.......
you got to be able to laugh sometimes, amist all the uncertainty in the world. i just finished reading a article on yahoo about the current state of things in europe, this situation looks like it will get worse before it gets better,IMHO. i hope not!!! something doesn't feel right.... oh i forgot to put on my foil hat.... silly me!!! hahahahaha
Have been looking into the basics of how to build a cabin,( youtube is a big help) just another skill id like to, at the very least have knowledge of should i ever need to use it.
I watched two episodes of "Mountain men" today. Its an interesting show so far. I like the guy in Alaska. Hes the one on the show really living to the extreme. Check it out if you get a chance.
completly forgot about that show, thanks for the reminder Aaron!!! i sahll look into watching those episodes
hi all, ive had an idea in my head recently about making a small wood stove for a tent( poor man stove) but until last night didnt know what the best material( metal box) would work best. And then i found a guy on youtube that apparently had a simliar idea. He built a small wood stove out of a 50cal ammo can!!! when i saw this video the light bulb came on and my idea final came into focus.(ok someone else has already done it, but this tells me that it can be done) Anyways checkout youtube, and type in" ammo can wood stove" you will see what im talking about. I think its a good idea and would work well in the right situation.
gmurphy,
If you build a custom mini-wood stove for your tent you might want to visit you local muffler shop and have them build you a 3 1/2" or 4" exhaust pipe for your stove. You may want to get a connector to weld to your stove so you can friction fit the exhaust pipe. If you want to be more portable, you want get a 3 peice pipe that has one end flared so you can friction fit your pipe together. Exhaust pipe should be able to handle the heat and be portable.

Just remember to use small sized fuel or your will be overheated in your tent. A layer of sand at the bottom of your stove will keep the bottom from burning out too soon.
once again mountainman you give out sound practical advice, thank you. I had thought about having a raised grateinside the ammo can to help savethe bottom of the can. But as i watched the video on youtube, this guy has already thought of that. In a way i felt kind of defeated, seeing someone else "use my idea", but then i sat back and thought about it. And i think it goes to show that someone else has the brain to think it up as well ,and the ability to build it.So that is a good thing, anyways i plan to get some of these materials together in the future and build one of these things. Should be fun.
another thought that is in my head......wood pallet shelters??? there are lots of pallets out there. a guy could probably get some for free every so often, maybe wander around on craigslist or kijiji and find some other building materials for little to no cost. 12x12, some plywood and tin roofing.... it could be done, obviously this would not go up over night. So once again just my thoughts on one of many....different things.
I could probably get you free wood pallets. We are constantly throwing them away at my work.
that would be great, i just need to have a way to traansport them to a spot where a guy can build a small cabin or shelter with them. hmmm????? not building any shelter down here thats for sure!!!! gonna have to be outside the lower mainland.
I actually don't think it will be a bad idea per se to stay in the LM, because of the proximity to the Garibaldi range of mountains. But you're right, building a shelter there is a bad idea unless it's underground.
H
Prepare for the worst
Hope for the best
