Just note though that tetracycline is one of the very few drugs I'm aware as being possibly toxic beyond expiry date. This is allegedly based on an old study, so maybe newer research has proven that wrong, but something to consider nonetheless if buying for long term, just-in-case storage.
Oh, noo thats bad! Hm, like many other businesses... The economy is ill! Well, the positive side, their lost, our gain!
"Only one report known to the medical community linked an old drug to human toxicity. A 1963 Journal of the American Medical Association article said degraded tetracycline caused kidney damage. Even this study, though, has been challenged by other scientists. Mr. Flaherty says the Shelf Life program encountered no toxicity with tetracycline and typically found batches effective for more than two years beyond their expiration dates."
WSJ, 2000.
The article is in response to shelf lives of pharmaceuticals and research done by the American Military and FDA. Newer studies say Tetracycline doesnt become toxic... But I like Helicopilot's caution and err on safety. Anything stored should be checked, double checked....
