Anyone here receive these ?
That sure looks like a press release, to inform people of whats coming. I bet they just started to mail them the day this appeared (today), I bet Friday or Monday should be when they start arriving. Makes sense to me that they would want people to be aware of whats coming otherwise I suspect a lot of people might panic getting something like that in the mail unsolicited
Give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.
Wow, really?
I thought this was standard practice in Canada.
Everyonewith in a certain radius around the Gentilly II plant in Quebec has had these for years.
The Toronto Star has quoted a "greenpeace" activist so I take the article and the Star's political leaning (and anti nuclear sentiments) with a grain of salt.
But...they do hit on one important fact. Updating Emergency Plans. In the last 10-20 years...the land surrounding these nuclear plants has changed tremendously....massive urbanization and population growth. Cities, townships, as well as the plants themselves need to update there plans accordingly. And as preppers....the individual needs to update there plans as well.
I have relatives that live a mere 5 min. drive from Darlington. They did recieve the pills...but if you ask them about emergency plans..either personal or what local authorities have planned they are completely in the dark. A mix of apathy, the "it'll never happen to me" syndrome, etc..... If there is one positive side to the mail out of the KI....maybe it will get people in the community starting to think "hey..if the authorities mailed this to me...maybe I should think about an emergency plan just in case."
I know I've said this before...and for what its worth...the Candu reactors used in Ontario (And Canada) use heavy water as part of the actual reaction. Candu's dont "melt down" like Chernobyl because if you take away the heavy water...you stop the reaction....The big risk is accidental contamination through spills or release of materials from the plant....something that "The Toronto Star" doesnt like to acknowledge..and would rather instill the image of a ticking Fukashima on the doorsteps of millions....

I got mine shortly after the press release, because of proximity of how close I reside to the Pickering Nuclear Power Station.
I ordered two packs and got them in the mail right after the Christmas Holidays. 😀
