May I ask HOW you have come to the conclusion that an EMP strike hitting the grid could expect to be "repaired" in a couple of months?

Where are all the millions upon millions of transformers that would be needed to be changed out?....the wire to replace the fried out transmission lines?....how are the Hydro trucks going to be running to repair the lines?......

there are NO faraday cages built large enough to house the necessary supplies to rebuild the collapsed Grid system after EMP strikes....and with the entire grid system interconnected it will all be effected.....

The 3 day black out that crippled the entire Eastern US and Canada was caused by a few trees on the transmission lines ( so the story goes)...so it shows the vulnerability of the system....IF / When it happens it will be epic in proportions and cause damage far longer in duration than a "few months"....

perhaps looking into this should be done...I;d hate to see you prepare for a 2 month event and not see anything get better for a year or longer....if ever....

Also...the "EMP" fear for preppers should also include the "hacking" of the system...it could cause just as devastating long term crash without an actual EMP strike....chances of having vehicles left in working order are far higher, so that is a good benefit...however...the chances of a successful hacking attack is also far higher...I seem to recall reading that there are literally hundreds of hacking attempts that occur on the North American Grid System every day...eventually someone is going to get in and do serious damage.....unfortunately a realistic scenario to be looked at...and again...how long is the realistic forcasted "repairs" going to take...and are they going to be possible?.....

I agree with Sabre21, Nasa says it's not IF, but When an EMP or CME will hit. When this happens power transformers will blow and these transformers are made in China. The amount of transformers that will be needed and the time to build all of these, plus shipping from China, the experts say it will be well over a year just for the delivery. The electronics that run the hydro generators will also have to be replaced when damaged and so on. It may take as much as two years before all is up and running. Workers won't have transportation to go to work. I suspect only a handful of vehicles will be at their disposal, making repairs extremely slow. This is a real case scenario that will impact the economy, social deterioration will follow quickly cause citizens are at the bottom of the emergency priority lists. You'll be on your own for a long while, so you better prep.

and IF, IF China actually sends anything to help anyone is questionable...if anything comes from China, it is just as likely to be occupation forces as transformers etc....problem is this...economics...

There is NO way that the USA and Canada could afford to PAY for the items needed to be shipped to possibly repair the systems....without any means of paying ...what benefit is there for China?

China needs resources...but it will not trade for what would be then be easy pickings...with communications and no power Nation and Continent wide...the Chinese could land forces in Vancouver and no one east of BC would know until the commie Chinese rolled over Alberta...they could simply take what the want....

I am just saying that the chances of us ever getting supplies from any Nation is slim to nil...ever single transformer, even the small Pole Mounted ones, and think how many there in say Toronto alone would need to be replaced, along with every main transformer station and switching stations...wire that was fried..computer systems remanufactured to run the system...who will do that?..China?...then they have control over everything...

Lets say that the EMP / CME occurs...where does it stop?...what effects North America, would it also effect South America?...Europe?......

without hydro society collapses rapidly..no longer any food production plants operating...no canned foods, no frozen foods...no refrigeration...stores become looted out by week two or three.....bands start to form by one month, roaming looking for supplies..by month 4 people will kill for some food.....by one year it is an anarchic society....WROL...and HOW does that society at that state ever regain getting the grid back up and running?....it doesn;t...

The Hydro Grid is the weak key to so much.......there is nothing we can do to protect it...we can only prep to survive without any power....it is a tragic slope to slide down....but that is what will happen...it is all interconnected.....

There is simply NO ability built into the system to repair it after a major occurrence.... after the 3 - 4 day outage that put much of North America into the dark...there are NO spares...those came from the relatively unaffected west coast...but if it is Nation wide or Continent wide...where can help come from...

Just wanted people to perhaps see this a tad more realistically....an ice storm can cripple much of a Province for a month!...and that is WITH spares and working vehicles and crews from across Canada and the US helping get it back up....not much chance if it is down everywhere....

We are preparing for anything that could happen. Our top priority is extreme weather such another Severe ice storm knocking out the power grid again, there are also tornado warnings in our area often (3xs in the past month alone) so for that as well. I am also concerned with anything that may happen in the USA that May effect us, for instance nuclear or terrorist attacks, unfortunately where my family lives we are close enough that if Washington, D.C. was hit, we would see some effects here especially an EMP. Finally we are preparing for solar CMPs as a just in case. Since we do not know what could happen and we are prepping for other things anyway, we are basing our prepping plans inc bugging out, on covering all basis's as a just in case. We figured if we are doing everything anyways, why not put in a few extra back ups to cover the highly highly unlikely and remote chance events as well.

Aside from the obvious weather issues, skyrocketing food costs and economic issues we are now prepping for radical extremists. We live close to Canada's largest airbase and with the influx of refugee's and the refugee issue's now plaguing host countries we have started prepping for this. I know a strike on the airbase itself would be hard but a strike on the military personnel from the base while out shopping is a viable threat IMO. I'm not looking to start a debate on the issue of immigrants, this is just what we are prepping for, nothing more nothing less. The question was asked and I am answering honestly.

I'm preparing for something that it is so big, its planetary and nothing can stop it. The effects of this large planetary object's passing has been documented in ancient times and in The Bible. Its weird and orbit within our universe makes it hard to track it and find it, however it was discovered in 1983 by NASA. They said it that Planet X didn't exist, but recently scientists are saying that they have found a planet.... and they call it Planet 9, but its not any other Planet.

Its Planet X, if you search it on Google or look for groups on Facebook, you will see many day and night time photos of its approach.

I'm in the boat with Promagstyle with planet X Lot of new footage since Dec 2015 to now 2016 more than just sun flares now from the cams. which I been waiting since almost 1996 a strong gut feeling. Most extends from watching America doing all this crazy stuff in griefing and hacking people in this non stop fashion saying WTF! lol Then there is all the crazy other stuff around the globe in weather, space weather and Just hey where I live as well not normal at all.
I total distrust any governance, and don't think I ever will again period. The only way out is total collapse, regrouping with community to reform a society that works, only way to make change occur rid our self's with a slave system and everything it's attached too.
