What is the best wind up radio
Why is it the best
Is there one as good but maybe not have to pay more just for a brand name
Where can I purchase one around London
I have the Eton Solar Powered Scorpion That I purchased from Amazon.com for $44.00 This emergency radio kicks ass. It is very durable with a splashproof rugged rubber exterior skin, and it is small enough to fit into my B.O.B. It measures 5.25-Inch x 2.5-Inch x 1.75-Inch (W x H x D) and ways only 8.5 oz
It also has the following great features;
Digital AM FM Radio Tuner, NOAA Weather Band, Built-In LED Flashlight, Large Solar Panel, Crank Powered, USB Cell Phone Charger, Audio Line Input, Aluminum Carabiner, Battery Charge Indicator, Bottle Opener, No Batteries Needed, DC Power
they also come in a variety of colours.
I will definitely like to buy one for my wife's B.O.B. and two more for my G.H.B.'s
Here's a link so you can check it out;
I have an Eton crank radio (an older model). I have had it for years and have found it very dependable. Can be used to charge your cell phone too but mine does not have a USB port which I would find useful. The Ambient seem to be something that I would investigate f I were to get another one. They have great reviews and a built in solar charger too.
I also have an ETON Scorpion. I keep it in the south facing window of my house to make sure it's always charged. The only thing I'm mad about is that I bought mine on-line and could have got the same unit at The Source locally cheaper. Check there for either ETON or GRUNDIG models that often go on sale.
Multi-Band Solar and Crank Radio
with LED Flashlight and Cell Phone Charger

However i am looking for one that has a better battery that will last longer
My friend has a winder-upper and one day we decided to test it out. We wound and wound and passed it around as our arms got tired, but no dice. So please tell us how long yours takes to charge by cranking.
10 min seems to make it work for over an hour ..just the radio
have not tried the solar charger that is built into it
if you turn the flashlight on it will drain it much faster
Over time the rechargable batteries in wind up radios fail and eventually won't take a charge at all. Best to get at least one spare rechargable battery as well as choose one that will also take regular batteries AND can use external battery power in a pinch. The more sources of power you can use the better.
thankyou so much jab

Looks excellent. Midland is a good name in communications. At that price get 2 of them. This is one area you do NOT want to have a failure in.
The nice thing about it you can use it as a two radio as well ! Nice option
