Bearmaster...
I totaly agree! A group of 30 IS big and it can also be hard get get all of the members to agree on a lot of tings and in this case, it can be conter-productive! And about the pepole who are sitting around doing nothing, I agree as well! thats why I was hopping finding pepole more motivated on this forum!

And about meeting pepople... Where are you from Bear Master?

thx.

Personally, I have not found a like-minded group. At this point, I'm just going about my business and preparing my home as best I can. I'm preparing food, home security, heat and ways to cook without electricity.

A person could go insane trying to get everything together at once. My advice - take it a step at a time and realize that you are way ahead of the game by prepping at all. If you are lucking enough to find a group, one thing you must be careful of is that you are in agreement morally and ethically with that group. A leader always evolves in any group, and if you and that leader don't see eye to eye on major things, someone is going to go.

One thing that is exceptionally important to me is not losing my humanity, my sense of charity, and my moral compass. That might be very difficult given a stressful SHTF situation, and if you are with people who are guided differently, you may end up allowing yourself to be pushed into actions you will regret.

Totaly agree with you Daisy, one of my friend and me tryed to get prepare with a group like 10 persons. We clearly exposed the facts that we have to communicate what we realy think and that we have to meet at least one time eatch month. After four months we had a serious argument and we just disolved the group. We were sad to lose such good peolple just because of an organisation question and some misunderstandings with some members.

I think that we were over organisated for them.

One part of preparation is individual but and other part is collective, you just have to find the good people for that.

We may want to look at it from a less organized point of view. If we can meet up with like minded people in our area, we can start to identify different skills each of us have. Perhaps one among us is mechanically inclined. Another may be a nurse. Then we can organize such that we can go to each other for help on specific things. As an example....I can help you fix your truck if you will help me with a health issue. Setting up a group of 10 people or so to occupy one space within 12 hours of a disaster would probably never work. But once we meet fellow preppers, we can learn how we can help each other post SHTF.

Hi guys,

I'm interested in talking about some prepping with people. I'm in montreal and would like to discuss some strategies and possibly work on some things with people for prepping. I just found this topic and see it's not that active, but if anyone has some contact info or would like to talk send me a message.

Brad

Hey there mtlcruisin, hang in there, we're all around, just kinda busy. Feel free to take a look at the national network and get involved there. I just moved from Mtl to the Laurentians a few weeks ago and am just getting back into the boards. I host a weekly podcast on PPRN if you're interested... http://prepperpodcast.com/index.php
I was thinking of trying a meetup sometime later this summer if you're into that.
Anyways, keep active in the forum...things will pick up.

I'd definitely meet up. I can't private message anyone yet, my account won't let me. But I'm interested in talking about things. Ideally I'd like to setup a safe house with people here, secure, and stacked with essentials. Somewhere a bit out from montreal. I think in terms of prepping, it's not as big up north as it is in the states. But if anyone wants to message me or talk about things, I'd like to get things going or join in on someone who already is far along.

I would be interested in organizing a meetup, but of course, that would depend on interest from other members.
Anyone interested in a meetup can post a reply here and we'll see what happens.

Hi there !

I'm living around Ste-Julie area (30 km from Montreal) and I'm a professionnal EMS worker with 15 years in the prepping game. I spent the last 5 years teaching advanced first aid and I wrote different article on advanced medical prepping and natural disaster preparedness for emergency services workers. I do have a very strong experience on wilderness survival and wilderness medicine(which is the closest discipline of disaster medicine). I agree most police, army and fire fighter will leave baracks for their family in SHTF scenarios. I'm interested in sharing BOL (bug out location) with other preppers as well of buying large quantities of gear/stock in order to have the best deal ! For any questions on medical field, water treatment and advanced prepping of emergency workers, I'm here !

Welcome joedisaster, glad to see another Quebeker here.
Due to the seemingly poor showing from our province, I have been meeting with the Ottawa group.
you will find that we are a cautious bunch and actually finding someone to share a BOL with may take some time, but you have come to the right place!
