As we should all know by now, when the SHTF, we will not be able to hunker down with our stockpiles of food and supplies and make a go of thinhgs on our own.
We all need to create a network of preppers in our local area for mutual support. Each group is going to need specialists such as a medic, mechanic, forager, etc.
Lets use this topic area to introduce ourselves to each other and get to forming those groups.
You don't have to give out your location here, but perhaps you can get in touch with members you trust by private message and take it from there.
Great plan! I'm Daisy, from Southern Ontario.
I have some knowledge of herbalism and first aid, although I'm not a professional at either of them. I often sadly look at the talents I have and figure they might not be too useful if the SHTF. I do a lot of writing and editing, and I'm a bookworm. I'm also great at Trivial Pursuit! 😆 I'm currently working hard to learn to garden, especially indoors.
This is a very big country. Even if we look at individual provices, it is a very big country. Communities need to be geographically small for people to actually help one another, without complex transportation and communication capacities.
Salut,

Because of the distance, we can't worke and help each other as hard the we loved to. I'm also looking for a place to start a retreat with Hard working et motiveted peoples!

Just get prepared.
For the past four years we have been preparing or prepping as it is now known. Without going into Prophesy, panic, hysteria or all the other names we get tagged with let me have a few words.
It has been my experience dealing with so many people that most live like sheep, they need to be led, they need to be fed, they need to know someone is their shepherd and will follow him anywhere, what a sad life. Whatever happened to free thinking? Now I don't pretend to know about people all around the world, how they live and what they believe in but I know that people are people, we want and need the basics but some never have a chance.
With all the unrest around the world, prices are climbing higher in everything we need for basic living, food, fuel, basic necessities and the like. We put up with politicians promising election after election to change things for the better but most remain liars and cheats. We talk a lot, complain even more yet nothing really changes for the better. Why do we let that happen over and over?
For those who choose not to prepare will have nothing to complain about when the SHTF. For those who refuse to believe all the signs around us, they will have nothing to complain about when the time comes. Most important to me, find out what is going on around you, there are enough true news sites left to find out what is going on, then you can decide. Put a list together of everything you will need and start or continue to prepare. Get you life in order and seek out family, friends or others who feel the same and get a 'safe house' together.
Safe House was something we started about 18 months ago, I know there are others. We have two houses side by side and a large building. Roughly 30 people who are getting prepared so when the time comes all we will have to do is gather our families, maybe a few belongings because most of what we need will be here, then get here within the first 10 - 12 hours.
Remember, no one person, no one family, no few people can stay awake, alert and be on guard 24/7. There will be chores to do, cooking, cleaning, sanitation, guard duty, child care, education, etc. You will need more people than a few. The worst place to be, any city or large town, even a small town where your location has many people around you. Choose a location out of town, at least 300 feet of clear sight in all directions. This makes sense, plain old fashion common sense.
Networks can be a hard thing to do and would take time to put together. In the mean time one should do all they can for themselves to be prepared. Not only prepare for what ever catastrophe might happen be it natural or man made (man made I think more likely) but just as important to prepare for the sheeple who are blind to the world around them and are not preparing.
Most of these sheeple are use to being taken care of, from running water and a grocery store that always has plenty of food to government handouts.
When shtf there will be a mass of these sheeple not prepared and with no one to take care of them, no food, no water, etc. Trust me, when these people are looking at starvation, when they can not go to the store to by food for there family they will become active. They will actively be looking for those that do have. Be prepared for this as well. You will have to protect what you have or it will be taken away from you.
No matter how much you have there is no way to protect it on your own or with a few people. I'm not talking a network, I'm talking a small group that somes together in the best location available and only then, with proper equipment can you protect yourselves.
The sheeple, well two days without water most are hysterical, three days they are no longer a threat. For those who survive the first three to five days, they can then become a threat and we will deal with that at that time. Ex-military Marine and Army, current officers that understand what is going on. Just about every officer, state police, county and local, all tell me the same thing. Should / when something happens they will be headed home to protect their immediate family, not the public.
And, we have the equipment to do so. Get it done now, tomorrow or next week may be too late and you will become one of the sheep people.
Hi everyone,
for my part I'm near of Montréal so it's not the best thing for me. But I try with people I know to get the far I can go in case of deseaster. I got some contact in the two shores far enought from the city. My major preocupation for the moment is to get to theses places with a minimum of time.I also think of alternative way to get there. I'm a ex-military and I use my knowledge to be prepare the best I can. I look sometimes on youtube for prepper chanel whitch is very important to get information and always build up your prepper and your knowledge.
Network is not the word I should have used Bearmaster. I know you meant groups. It is a smart idea but until you have your group you better be as ready as can be. Have you got your group Bearmaster . I haven't but can assure you it would take a small army to take what I have. My property will be littered with sheeple before I go down or lose a single prep.
I know what you mean, group of 30 (if all get here, depends on what happens) and yes, 4 years preparing with everything I can think of having on hand. And when it happens the first thing that comes out of my mouth is "lock and load" because after about 10 - 12 hours everyone better be here, ready to set up and first team will be on guard.
That's why I say small group, at least 12 - 15 adults and everyone will be part of the team or will be sent away. They think I'n tough now, wait until then. I'm tired of my tax dollars being wasted on the lazy and good for nothing, I'm all out for helping those that are really ill, will help even those who are down on their luck but only for a short time. Those who sit around, doing nothing but smoke, drink and drugs, they will probably die off first. After that watch for the gangs, those in gangs now and that will form one out of necessity.
The signs are all around us, there are enough news articles and internet sites along with FEMA and Red Cross telling people to prepare. It's going to be one hell of a ride for some of us, others not so good and probably about 25 - 30% dead in the first week or two. We're far away enough from the cities but do have enough towns and large neighborhoods that will come looking, we will give fair warning first, after that it's everyone for themselves. Already have the warning signs ready to post.
Thanks...
