When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.
Day 37 –
First of all, on behalf of the Canadian Preppers Network, I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the senseless acts of violence in Nova Scotia. Canada stands with you in this difficult time.
Nasty and cold outside so a few little projects indoors today. Got some meat divided and repacked for the freezer. Fifteen meals in all put up this week, so still headed in the right direction.
Melted down some jar candles that had been burning unevenly. Unfortunately, I cut the wicks way too soon and they created a dip in the center of the candles. Oh well, I’ll learn from it and fix them up another time. Live and learn.
Just how much has day to day life changed for us? Not much in reality. Sure, we are home all the time and there are two of us working at the kitchen table now. The kids are home, but between whatever school work that comes in and other activities, they pretty much deal with it all pretty well. Grandma gets an extra call or two from the kiddos every week. We limit our shopping trips to once a week for each of us, one at a time of course. I’m surprised the kids aren’t more squirelly as they don’t get to go anywhere with us anymore.
All in all, it’s turning out to be more of a practice run. We find holes in our preps, notice skills that need to be improved, and continue to monitor the situation, which doesn’t seem to change much all things considered. Cases, deaths, hospitalizaations continue to increase. The lockdown drags on.
More news tomorrow…
