Covid-19 : Our Bug In Day 4

When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.

Day 4 –

More bad news today. The border has been closed to all except Americans. Not too sure I understand that, but it is what it is. The number of infections keeps going up, the restrictions being asked of us keep getting more restrictive. For the first time in a while, the Covid 19 death count rises in Canada from 1 to 4. Things are not going to get better any time soon.

We’ve gotten pretty settled into our new routine. Of course we were used to working from home, but add in the fact that we need to check security more often and with a keener eye, while dealing with 2 school aged kids that need to continue to be educated. Today we kept them busy with a play/reading routine, but we will be checking out some online educational resources this evening and printing out some lessons for them.

So far, food is not an issue. We’re well stocked and to date we haven’t even broken into any storage food. This will change likely by early next week when we run out of fresh milk and have to turn to alternatives such as coffee whitener and powdered milk. Everything else is just normal rotation of supplies. We’ve taken care to store what we eat, making it seamless to eat what we store!

Information is key in these days. I’m now even starting to see self proclaimed preppers freak out about municipal offices closing. News flash, turn on your television and even the MSM would have told you this was going to happen! Spoiler alert…this is only going to get worse, and we’re talking by the day, not the week or month!

Since we realize that this is going to get really really bad, really really soon, we are contemplating another supply run on Friday. Of course, this will be done with protective gear and only if we deem it safe to do so at the time. This could backfire on us, as this situation seems to evolve by the hour. Oh decisions decisions!

More news tomorrow.
