When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.
Day 5 –
Again posting this a day late, this might actually be a better idea. This way I can let the events of the day unfold, process them, and have a better understanding of the situation.
The routine so far is easy to adjust to. Sure, I’m a little more security minded right now, but I’m not patrolling the property 3 times a day yet. Any extra measures I am taking still require a concious effort to maintain, such as extra hand washing, double checking that doors are locked, that kind of thing.
It is becoming increasingly clear that we will need to do a town run by Thursday. There are some lose ends to tie up at the bank, we are running out of de-icing salt for the walkways, and a general curiosity of the goings on out there in the real world is hard to ignore. Of course, PPE will be worn and we will bake a list of what needs to be done so we don’t have to venture out for a while longer.
While the Mrs and I are able to work from home, it is becoming obvious that business is down. Both being in sales, people just aren’t doing anything right now, especially in advertising, which is the field we both work in. The Mrs draws a minimal salary at least, but I am completely performance based. Income will be affected to some degree. We just don’t know yet how bad or how long this is going to be.
