When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.
Day 8 –
Recon day! I know we’re supposed to be on a bug in, but with this looking like it’s going to go on for months, and even some speculation of a second wave, we thought it best to top off supplies a bit…wearing PPE of course.
Heck, this time we weren’t the only ones wearing masks and gloves. You would think there would be less weird looks with a few others wearing PPE, but that wasn’t the case. I think maybe people are starting to think that they should have it too…good luck to them, there simply aren’t any masks in our area, at least not the disposable ones. Here’s hoping our order comes in sooner than later!
The grocery stores weren’t that busy, but they were low on basics to be sure. Not sold out, probably because of limits, but very low. We got 2 of the last 3 cans of tuna. 2 was the limit. We got mostly what could be stored in a cold room, or canned and dry goods.
We are very quickly seeing that an absolute lockdown isn’t possible. There will be trips to the stores, but they will be kept to an absolute minimum and lists will be made so that we do not make more trips than we absolutely have to. We think that resupplying ourselves while we still can is a calculated risk. Right now, the calculations still tell us to go, but only if we have to.
