When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.

Day 18 –

Interpreting numbers is a challenge. Here in Quebec, we are being hit the hardest according to official stats, but those stats may not tell the whole story. For starters, Quebec is now testing 8000 people per day, well above the average for other provinces, so of course we have more cases. On the other hand, mathematicians are pointing out 3 day average percentages and other figures that show that the rate of increase is slowing. So what is anyone to believe? Is it getting worse, or better? Who the heck knows!

The constant flow of unrecognized vehicles is getting to be an issue. I’m starting to wonder where these new people are coming from. Could they be cottagers trying to avoid the city? If so, with the closest city (Montreal) being the epicenter in the province, then we may have an issue right here in our little neighborhood sooner than later.

On a happier note, all this rain has certainly taken the snow pack down several inches. Two huge planters are now completely clear and I hope to see some rhubarb coming through the soil in the next few days. The garden itch is real, and I have seeds growing inside that will need an outdoor home soon. Let’s hope I got the timing right.
