When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.
Day 20 –
Interesting development today as I hear the police on the ham radio have organized a covid response team. It seems that every shift, a team is dedicated to covid related calls. Mostly they are responding to calls from shop owners about people giving them trouble over distancing measures like limiting the number of people in a store at a time. So far, I haven’t heard anything about mass gatherings being reported by citizens.
Another development is the installation of checkpoints on main roads in and out of several counties and regions. These checkpoints are going to be random and are intended to keep people from traveling from region to region and potentially spreading the virus. Not really sure how I feel about that. It was a concern that was brought to my attention yesterday with cottagers showing up, but at the same time, I feel a little uneasy about checkpoints. How long will it be before we have the army here keeping people home?
