Covid-19 : Our Bug In Day 21

Search Amazon for Preparedness Supplies:

When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.

Day 21 –

3 weeks in and it’s time for another supply/banking run. This time though, we are doing a little recon at the same time. Given that our region is supposed to be cut off by police roadblocks, we thought it best to check it out. Even though this supply run took us outside of our county, there were no roadblocks to be seen, so inter-county travel within our region is still possible. There was however a roadblock into the region. We didn’t have to go through, so we have no idea who they are or are not letting through.

My oldest stepson delivers groceries for a living. Believe it or not, he makes an OK living at it, especially these days. He has told us that he carries paperwork to show at roadblocks that he is indeed considered an essential service. It’s more than a little unsettling that people have to have travel papers to show police. Kind of reminds me of a few history lessons from high school. I have serious doubts that these roadblocks are working as we continue to see out of region folks here on a daily basis as they work on renovating cottages. My feelings a re mixed about this as SOME of them are planning and have been planning for a while to move here full time. They are simply getting their new homes ready for occupation. Still, they may be bringing the virus with them. What bugs me more is the part time cottagers settling in early. They usually don’t show up until May.

Supplies such as basic groceries remain available. Sure, a few items on sale might be missing or low, but that’s normal. Basics such as milk, bread, etc. are still plentiful. Toilet paper is on the shelves as usual.

Tomorrow will be another supply run for the “other than groceries” items and will be more local. We will see if social distancing is in practice or not. So far, MOST people get it, but not everyone.

More news tomorrow…
