The storm that ravaged West Virgina, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland has given us some valuable info in regards to long term power outage with sty-fling heat.[" 100 plus"].
I dont want to sound insensitive to the situation but every prepper should be paying attention to this situation..It has, and is showing us what happens in this type of situation..
No power, refrigeration gone.. Store's and people have had to throw out perishables, and now there is a dangerous food shortage..Canned goods are running low and out water is not accessible, grocery stores are empty..and this has happened in 5 days...Everybody needs to make notes on this tragedy and bring your thoughts to the meeting..This tragedy is without a doubt some of the best intel we may be able to observe, and learn from..
Again I dont want to sound insensitive or be disrespectful to the people that are enduring this terrible situation but it is something I think we need to pay attention to....

Traveller< I do not think you are being insensitive at all, you are speaking the plain and simply truth. Perhaps "quietly" pointing towards events like this can help us all persuade those close family and friends who do not prep to consider they need to at least do SOMETHING.
Even for myself it is a good reminder. Time to check my rain barrels and make sure they are full and get off my butt on making something happen in regards to heating my current home if a similar situation happens in the Winter here, I am COLD!
I see Hi traffic on; self sustainable community form, defending your family, looking for Alberta preppers and your biggest fear would be.... That it might be time to take the next step in the trust department, and start building our bug out community...come up with viable plans where to go in every direction, have a muster point, in every direction and where will the rally point be..In every direction....I believe we are ready for this, give it some thought and if you are ready then bring your ideas written down to the meeting.I know some in our group are self sustainable where they live, but what if you had to bug out, then what...I dont want to leave any one behind sooooo...just give the what if a thought and see you there..

I drove by the campground in Beisiker this morning. It looks like a great spot for a meeting. I think I'm going to be able to make the meeting, but not the missus. She is training for the Regina Marathon and the long run takes precedence. I'm not sure how much value I can add to the meeting, but am looking forward to meeting some of you so that I can put a face to your names. It's back country camping in Kananaskis this weekend... whoo hoo!

Antsy, I'm new to Calgary relatively and want desperately to get out camping in the deep woods... not provincial park style. I dont have a credit card so these place where you have to contact and get permission and buy a pass online or over the phone with credit wont work for me. Sounds like you might know the kinds of places close to Calgary where guy like me might be able to go? Fire me a message if you will?

Well our third meeting is creeping up on us, I hope everyone has there thoughts written down for a good discussion...
I think it is time to move up the trust ladder, If we could all bring an Alberta map to plot out our possible muster points and safe areas to travel to...
Of course we have many subjects to touch on again but I feel this is very important in the event something does happen, and we have a bit of an idea as to where to meet up..I am hoping some of our Medicine Hat folks can make the trek..I realize it is a bit of drive but we would really like to have you there....Also Lethbridge where are you come on up, if we can get folks from the southern area net working it gives us an excellent area to work with....it should be a great day so go for a drive and come and say hi....Crowsnest Pass how about it you up for a drive on a nice day....We are beginning to get a good show of south central but I would really like to see some southern Ideas up here....How about it give us a couple hour's to say hi....
