Snowandrain January 11, or 14 or 15 would work for me. If it couldn't be on one of those days, I probably couldn't come.
I really wish I were closer to you than I am... a great deal on some important long-term storage food items! There's the disadvantage to where I live....
We're in! I wish I hadn't been gone so much lately. I would have seen this post previously.
Rain, thank you very much for taking the lead on this. I think it would be great to meet other like-minded individuals and learn how it is done. The prices are very reasonable. Kinda reminds me of the Ikea commercial - "Start the car...START THE CAR!"
Anyway, Jan 11, 14 and 15 works for me too.
By the way, I met a chap a year ago who is LDS also. I seem to remember him mentioning this to me. I promptly forgot about it. In one ear and out the other, I guess. Note to self: Make more notes to self! 🙂
Thanks again, Rain.
I don't know where these dates came from but it wasn't from me haha! If I do decide to do another cannery trip, it'll be on a Saturday morning at 9am. Please email me if you're seriously interested. My email: raincanada at telus dot net
I am not willing to do another cannery trip until I can get at least 10 committed people.
Rain 🙂
It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.....
Saturday mornings should work for us... she'll just have to stay awake as she comes off-shift 😯
I'll send you an email, thanks.
Hello to all of those who are interested in building up your food storage easily and at the lowest price you'll find anywhere bar-none...(that's my opinion, I haven't actually done the research haha! I do know that there is no profit being made here, it's totally a service project offered by the church. I have been using this method of canning and storing for over 30 years)
My plan is to phone the cannery today and set up a date/time that we can all go out and do our canning...It will be on a saturday at 9am...As soon as I have a date, I will post it on the network...After that I will expect everyone who is SERIOUSLY interested to send me your order list (The order list has already been posted on this thread but if you can't find it and If you need a list, I'll email you one) so that I can pass them on to the cannery so that they can pull our order ahead of time so that our day will run quickly and smoothly...
I look forward to all of your emails and all of your orders! My email address: raincanada at telus dot net
Please don't let me down...there are people volunteering to make this day happen for you and we want to make their day worthwhile also...! Of course if I don't get enough people interested, I will have to cancel...that would suck 🙁

Awesome! I just emailed my order form to Rain. I eagerly await the date so I can put it on my calendar.
So, lets see how quickly we can fill the list and help Rain make the necessary arrangements. Remember, the food needs to be ordered in so to avoid any disappointment, get the form in early. Right now would be a good time to do it. A better time would have been 1 minute ago!
Rain, I have done the research into food prices. The prices on the order form are VERY reasonable. Plus, there are no shipping costs involved and you get the satisfaction of having done something for yourself. It should be a good, productive and fun day. I look forward to meeting everyone else! 😀
The new order form at http://providentliving.org/self-reliance/food-storage/home-storage-center-order-form?lang=eng has the prices updated as of January 1, 2013.
10am is way better...an extra hour of sleep!
YIPPEEEE!!! I got a date for the cannery...It will be on Saturday, January 26th at 9am.
It is true that a few prices has gone down and one price went up so do use the new order form. If you would like a copy, please email me. I need to get your orders sent to the cannery a few days before the 26th so email them to me as soon as you can.
Don't miss out on this great opportunity to start, build up or add to your food storage.

Nice one! OK, you have my order form already. I am guessing the spots will fill quickly. Glad I got my order in! See you all on Saturday 26, Jan.
And of course, like last time the timing of this is awful for me. I will be playing catch up finances for another 3 paychecks before I have any spending money. Will have to wait for another one I guess. have fun you guys.
No matter how good or bad your life is, wake up each day thankful because someone somewhere else right now is fighting for theirs
Unfortunately there won't be another one. I"m sorry that you'll miss out.

I probably should bite my tongue here but I need to say something. Rain has gone to a lot of trouble to help us by setting aside a date for us all to take a positive step towards preparing our food stocks. She has asked for nothing in return yet I am the only one who has even sent her an email about it. You know what? She is so kind and thoughtful that even though she wanted at least ten or so people to make this venture worth her time and effort, she is willing to go ahead with it for just my benefit. How kind of her! I definitely won't let her down. I have to ask though, what is wrong with the rest of you lot? You 'preppers' endlessly chunter on about needing to build your food stocks and get ready for hard times yet when it is time for the rubber to hit the road, many of you bail.
Admittedly some of you are fully stocked with dried, canned foods and don't need to obtain more...fair ball and good for you! You are the kind of people that I would be willing to band together with in times of hardship. The rest of you though...well, that old line about looking a gift horse in the mouth comes to mind. Don't worry though, if you need food, even though you don't want to take steps to secure some of your own, you can always ask me. I would never refuse to help you by sharing some of mine. I would be willing to give you enough to get you safely down the road so you can ask for help from someone else. I will go further to say that at least one or two of you that bleat on endlessly about those who fail to prepare will not think twice about asking, too. That's just human nature though, right?
Instead, why not send an email, secure your spot and do something REALLY worthwhile about your preps. Don't just talk the talk. Walk the walk! Have you seen the prices of dehydrated, canned goods these days? Who knows how long you will even be allowed to buy that kind of stuff for too. One day, not a million years from now, it may be outlawed in Canada/USA to even have more than 7 days of food in your larder. That topic has been openly discussed in the last six months. What a golden opportunity many of you are frittering away...act while you can.
OK, rant finished. Getting off my soapbox now. I realize my rant doesn't apply to everyone and I am sorry for being so passionate about this but seriously, God helps those who help themselves and we are all brothers/sisters in this 'prepping thing'. We all need to step up and take advantage of these opportunities as they come up. Also, since we now live in a society full of chronically offended people, it is probably necessary that I say that I am sorry if I have offended anyone. Feel free to flame me for calling the slackers out on their BS.
We now return you to regular programming on DNN (drone news network).
Thanks again, Rain. See you at the cannery!
Wow, that felt good!
I feel much better now...lol. 😉
I appreciate all of your support guys...
so far as I'm concerned, when the 26th comes, Dendrite and I (and our spouses) will be at the cannery with bells on...after a couple of hours, we'll have a good amount of storage, we'll go home and stack our cans on our shelves and look back and feel good about our efforts...It's all good...! I'm looking forward to it! But then again, I love being at the cannery!
It's not too late for those who are interested...we'd love to have you! ...simply email me your order by January 22nd and we'll go from there 🙂
