It is my understanding that anyone can make an appointment to go to the cannery when it fits in with their schedules...I agree that it was very nice of her to try to set it up for a time we could go together but as we are spread out all over the place and our lives are all busy and on different schedules so we are not all able to attend at the times she has set up. I appreciate the effort but will more than likely have to book a time that fits in with our life.

I'll be putting the order together this week and getting it back to you this weekend.

This thread is so long now I don't recall what I need to bring or where we need to go, so when I email you the list I'll have a few other questions for clarity.

thanks,

Dangphool, you don't need to bring anything but yourself/selves. I'll be happy to answer all your questions in email 🙂

As I mentioned before I would LOVE to participate, but i am close to 6 hours away. There were 2 possible weekends I could've participated, and would have jumped at the chance as noted in my previous posts, but unfortunately the dates just didn't coincide and reality is I would need to get up and drive at 3am to get there for 9, or come the night before & get a motel room, etc.

I really think it's sad when people turn down such a kind offer.

Thankyou for taking the trouble to arrange it, Rain. And I hope those who do participate receive an extra blessing for making the effort.

In case you don't have it, the following is the link to the order form for the cannery.

http://providentliving.org/self-reliance/food-storage/home-storage-center-order-form?lang=eng

If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you’ll see the Canadian version that you can download and email to me if you are interested in canning with us on Saturday the 26th @ 9am. I need the order forms a few days early so that I can fax them to the cannery because they want to pull our orders and get organized before we arrive...

We hope to see you there!

So excited to be going canning on Saturday...It's one of my favourite places in the world to be...I need a life...! haha! So looking forward to adding to my storage...I ordered more powered milk this time...you can never have enough milk in my opinion...maybe I can help some babies 🙂 Also ordered some dry onion...so cheap...! What's a meal without onion? I personally am not a fan of large pieces of onion but I like the little dry onions...I also ordered some more hot chocolate mix...what comfort that will bring to my family in the bad times...a nice hot cup of hot chocolate...Yummy...!!! I also dehydrate mini marshmallows...yes...that's right...I dehydrate mini marshmallows and put them in Mason jars so that we can have marshmallows with our hot chocolate 🙂 I love prepping!!!

Well, we went and we had a great time. It was a lot of fun! Everyone there was so warm and welcoming. It was quite busy, mind you. Not a lot of time for chit-chat until after but the busy pace certainly made the time fly. I got there a few minutes late because I don't know that part of town very well and I was a bit unsure of where I was. I want to apologize to everyone for showing up late, I am sorry.

So, we got started at about 9:10 and we were done at 10am. Less than one hour! I have to tell you, it feels good to look at 4 boxes packed with six cans each and knowing that I have taken a large step in increasing my self-sufficiency. I look forward to doing that again when I get the chance.

For those who missed this opportunity, when it happens again, make sure you attend. Do whatever you have to do - quit your job, forget your anniversary, postpone elective surgery, ignore that pesky subpoena for court. Just be sure to make it to the cannery! By the way, I know some of you folks that didn't attend were a bit worried that you might get a sermon if you went. Well, it didn't happen. I never expected that it would. Nobody got bitten and nobody was called out for being a sinner, lol. Nope, none of that stuff happened. It was just a great morning with some great folks who shared a common goal in preparing for whatever may happen in the future.

One statement I heard that rings true was, "People buy insurance for their home, their car and even their life but very few buy food insurance."

Rain, you and Snow were so kind and friendly. You are lovely people and I can't thank you enough for making it all happen. I am really glad I went. If I can ever help you in any way, please just let me know. I owe you.

So happy we had a good turn-out! Like I said in my previous post, the cannery is one of my favourite place to hang out. I can't wait until I have more time to volunteer there. Thank you to all of you who were there and let's do it again soon!!!

Well, I was personally unable to attend because a certain cable company decided that they would only issue an '8-hour' window for installation because of where we live....
But the missus and the mother-in-law both went and had a good time as well. We were not really sure what to expect but the boxes that made it home were appreciated. The mom/law who is not a prepper and had no real idea of the concept actually started to ask us why we hadn't ordered more beans! 😆

So, that is now on our list for next time. I hope to try the pancake mix soon to compare it to Aunt Jemima lol.

Thanks SnowandRain
