To put it as simply as I can.... Government = Corporate Interest... period. They are one and the same and exist to benefit each other.. no one else. ANYTHING that benefits society is clearly an accidental byproduct that once recognized will be taxed or legislated out of existence.
I just wanted to put it out there that I'm one of the guys that gmurphy has met twice in Langley. Both meeting went great. If anyone else out there wants to meet for coffee in the Langley area feel free to message me. Or maybe its time to setup a group meeting. Anyways pm me and we'll arrange something.
I used to teach my guys to take two sticks and lash them to gether in the middel to form an X.
Then tie a lanyard to the centre of the X, tyhen burry the X in the sand a foot or two down then tie tarps or tent line to the lanyard stickingb out of the ground. This works well in snow just burry it deeper. But I like the idea of bags, maybe a nylon bag with that would hold a couple of pounds of sand then burry it .
Rember Be Prepared
Zzulu I agree with your viewpoint an thank you. Some politicians are corrupt, others don't care beyond the pay cheque and some are not just not the smartest bunny on the block. There are a few however that care, are sincere and have your interests at heart. Unfortunately they are the minority.
As i walked in downtown vancouver the other day i found myself looking at the people that passed me on the street and asked myself" i wonder how many of these people are prepared" My wife even said to me at one point" i would hate to be in the downtown core if something major ever happened" the skytrain station was packed for the commute out of downtown when we were headed home, how crazy will it get in the event of.......
I recieved an invite from another prepper on this site to meet up next week in my area, i look forward to meeting another like minded person.
a few thoughts, duffman touched on this, communications devices. would it be possible to have such a set up where one or more people use cb radios to communicate with each other over a long distance??( im thinking abbotsford- langley, langley-burnaby, burnaby -vancouver,vancouver to victoria) Im sure it can be done, but i openly admit that i would exactly know where to begin with this one outside of buying a cb radio.
picked up the book Back to Basics,a complete guide to traditional skills, great book, tons of good info, $15 at coles book store!!!
i wanted to let everyone know that Aaron Bouge was the guy i have meet with twice in langley, good guy, very easy to talk with, if your in the langley area drop him a line im sure he would be happy to talk with you. Aaron had mentioned about having a gathering on this side of the river. Somemost of us on the BC forum have either been to, or have read about the success that jeff78 has had with his meetings, maybe the same success can be had with a get together at a local restraunt in the langley area. Just my thoughts on many different things......
I think that is you want to cover any considerable distance with communications then ham radio is the way to go. There is a learning curve and it can be quite an investment but well worth it.
Well i really don't know where to start. This is really a no brainer. It is as simple as this.
People don't want to think about the following, and don't want to hear it.Governments care little about you.
Provincial food store last on 3 days.
73% of food is imported into B.C.
Solar Flares are real.
Disasters happen everyday, are getting worse.
Your Neighbours will turn on you. They will want your food.
Your Friends will rat you out for "Hording" as they call it. They will get your food
Your Government has made no plans for you.
All my food comes from stores.
The Disaster Container in the School sports Field , has some water, teddy bears, and crayons, for all 600 kids right?. What a joke.
The Emergency response department , has sent you a map to get to a shelter?, oh yah you don't count. If i need more gas, i can just get more.
Look at the home designs in Lowermainland, they built porches so people can meet and talk, and now people park in the back, to avoid the porches.
Take a walk at night, look how many people are having backyard get togethers, less than 1 in 25 homes.
Sad to say YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN, GET USED TO IT.
The Most Powerfull Nation took 6 days to get water to it's people, because the people did'nt matter. There is no help coming, so be prepared, and hope i am wrong. 😆
I think you're 100% correct. Just think of it, Translink board of directors salaries up some 300+ %, municipalities managements salaries nearly double of where they were 5-6 years ago,B.C.Ferries former CEO 1.3 mil a year and now nearly 400k a year pension, MP's golden pensions and severence pays when they get voted out of the office because of their uselessness, the list is endless. We the ordinary people merely serve as the "Elite's" ATM and trust me, when the s..t hits the fan because they have by the way created it, they'll leave us hang dry and screw us over in the process. We really are on our own.
well after reading a bit of duffmans post on communications,i got to thinking.... amatuer radio club!!! yep sure enough there is one in coquitlam and i plan on giving them a call on monday to find out what it is all about. I realize that its pretty self explanitory( radio club!!!) but i figure a phone call never hurt and hey maybe this might be something of a hobby i might be intrested in!??
I know that you can purchase broadband radios that include ham radio frequencies. They are fun and informative to listen to!! I know that when I lived in Calgary as a teenager I listen to ham conversations all around the world.
the whole ham radio idea seems to be something really worth looking into.... so far my search on ebay has turned up resonably priced units. just curious if anyone out there has any experience with these types of radios or maybe belongs to an amatuer radio club??? If any of the ex military on here know anything about these tyupes of setups, im all ears.
I really recommend joining a local club if you can. To check out various makes and models of radios this site is great:

does anyone have a radio license,or belong to a radio club??? just curious about the test that is required and what are some of the good radio setups. There's a lot of info on the net and i'm having a tough time understanding different specs on different radios
I was in the same boat as you are in.
yah gotta get to a meeting!!!! the course sounds interesting, one of those skills that could be very valuable in the event of a major crisis!!
