Well, lets thinK through the term. Against Archy. Monarchy, Oligarchy, Corporatacrcy, Aristocracy, Gangster...um..ocracy. For the people, by the people. I've known several people that self identify as anarchist and not one would raise a fist to another human being other than in self defence. Anarchy is simply a rejection of Hierarchy. Its what we think about when we hear terms like "A Kingdome of Conscience". I'm pretty agnostic about the term but I refuse to be Ruled...Nor would I rule another. That's a hard principal as a leader of a MAG but I always keep it at the forefront of my thoughts. My people are not "MY People". They are just my responsibility.

Can I offer you a carrot. Its organic. It doesn't come in Kool-Aid flavors though it might be from last year and not approved for human consumption from the government

I was optimistic for a while until I posed a question to a large online parenting group I belong to regarding preparations for more severe weather this coming Winter, basically start with posting the government link with 72-hr emergency prep check-list. Let me tell you, at least 60 people posted saying that they're not worried, the government or aid orgs will come and help if it gets very bad LOL They won't even bother clicking to read what kind of supplies they might have and ridiculed the whole idea with gusto 🙂

I love living in Toronto and I agree, it's a very friendly city full of helpful people (speaking from personal experience), but the fact that so many are relying that someone will help them if they need it without lifting a finger themselves kind of makes me nervous.

You think people in Toronto are complacent.. I lived in Victoria for 17 years and I don't think 90% of them could make it through what's coming. That's what's nice about living on an island though...

Ya that's pretty sad...and is the general thought for most of the population. If you even hint that things could go bad....you get called paranoid, or get on your tinfoil hat etc. I think its because there has been nothing bad to happen in north america since ww2, and then it was just sending troops abroad. People are VERY complacent, myself included at times. I mainly keep to myself about it now, it makes me happy to be on the way to being prepared for most anything. 😉 (but holy crap I have a long way to go!)

I'll leave that alone because it's beside the point anyway. When people say "anarchist" these days they aren't talking about you. They're talking about the type who showed up at the Bundy ranch with guns to "defend Bundy's rights." Didn't matter that the cause was questionable in the first place; govt=bad so they came.

Those are the type who could cause alot of suffering when the time comes. It's one thing to say you don't need the system, it's another thing to shoot the system dead when most people depend on it to live.

I know that C5 gave a decent interpretation in another post of today's anarchist and how they do have their place in today's society. I'd say that most who are reading this forum therefore fit into the category of anarchist to some degree as we are not in acceptance of trusting our present government to completely provide for us in the future. To further debate this minor discrepancy of definition is just leading us down a path we have already marked out earlier. Maybe C5 could post a link where he stated it but maybe he is too tired as I am to reread numerous threads over such a minor detail too.

Complacency is a mode we all fall into and climb out of often. I think finding a balance between freaking out (and thus overreacting) and becoming too complacent is the end goal for most of us. Prepare enough so that we can comfortably relax in the knowledge that we have done enough to sleep at night. There are just too many variables to meet them all. Focus on the obvious for your location and meet it with an affordable objective according to your income....that is enough! To exceed the logical limits of your resources just opens other doors such as promoting personal financial ruin instead. Get a gun or just better door locks... whatever your conscience accepts easiest. Just don't let paranoia own your person.....

Well, I know its going off on a tangent but it is applicable to the title. After The Crash...your associations will be every thing. The ability to self organise and do it rather quickly determines whether you survive. I remember Denob referring to preppers as "Information Reallocation Specialists" or some such. Basically, Information thieves. Im not seduced by any doctrine but I can glean useful ideas from any system. In the years of thinking about what governance would look like in my MAG or mutual assistance group, Two prominent ideas came to mind. There is a political Joke. Ghandi is dandy but Hitler is quicker. I could have gone the King C5 rout with military type authority...but that could have had problems down the road as people end up divided into Royalty, Disposable Enforcers,...and Surfs. Resentments would have grown fast. Instead, I have gone with a more cumbersome system. A direct democracy , voluntary participation, non hierarchal system. The group belongs to the group and profits from it as such. Its technically an Anarco Syndicate though nobody but a philosophical wanker like myself would call it that. Every member, once they join and have been unanimously voted in, has a veto in any major decisions about the direction of the group. Lets face it here. We are talking about PREPPERS here. Proud, independent, self reliant and suspicious of authority. This is the only system I can think of that would keep this type of people together. One of my members mentioned to me the other day, while I was making a tough decision for the group, "I've come to trust your instincts in these things, but I have to tell you that I am Honored that I have a full veto." That is not something most people are used to having in the system we have today and it is valuable and unifying. Just my thoughts on Self Organising...After the Crash.

I've had people that seem to know me pretty well, come up and reminisced about things we had done together... that I have zero recollection of ever meeting. Very Groundhog Day.
