Our family went along to a Bush Dance last night at a local rural hall, which by the way was a LOT of fun...and my daughter, known to you guys as 'Bush Kid' asked "If the economy collapses, will this sort of thing continue?"
Well I thought about it and answered that yes it would continue in some form, because perhaps the only entertainment available will be 'Homegrown'.

It helps to pull a community together and helps relieve the stress of whatever SHTF situation you may be in.

Just thought I'd share my thoughts with you all 🙂

Excellent. Entertainment as a celebration, as a reward or just for the fun of it will always be valuable in so many ways. Keep it up!!!!!

I am such a dinosaur. I guess I grew up in SHTF and didn't even know it. Entertainment was around long before life as we now it know it.

People are quite capable of amusing themselves without the electronic world and surviving as well. I guess so much time has passed that people are scared to death of living without modern technology; its really not that big of a deal. Its just much harder to travel long distances but even that can be done with nothing but time and a little effort. The world would once again become neighbourhood based and we never did lose tribalism.

People will replace their tv with a deck of cards to pass the time. Just like the old days. I am sure the community pot luck suppers and social will start again . This gives people a chance to talk to others , share ideas, and come together as a community. Not to mention to let your hair down.

Why wait? Invite your family and friends to a Pot Luck supper at your own house. We've been having these for years.....
Learn knitting, crochetting, woodworking, play card games, play board games like scrabble, monopoly, etc. ESPECIALLY if you have kids - they will already know how to entertain themselves (when not doing chores) after the SHTF. You can find used games at thrift stores and garage sales. It's great family bonding too.

in my AO, there is already to much "home grown" entertainment. . . and while yes, i think the old fashion barn dances will still be around, (and needed) i have a feeling the other "home grown" stuff will be here too.
