Prepping being a rather expensive little hobby 😉 I got to wondering about alternatives!

One thing that had been annoying me was purchasing stuff like shampoo and conditioner, even in bulk it is still expensive.
I have been buying a lot of pure soap to store for kitchen, laundry and bathroom use, but it will only last until the last bar gets used up.
I don't often wash my hair with shampoo and have found in summer that a swim in the river leaves my hair squeaking clean, but having long, thick hair I struggle to get a brush through it without some conditioner.

So yesterday I had reason to move three Rosemary plants and cut them right back and am now drying the branches over the fire. So I thought, "Hmmm what to do with all this Rosemary?"
So I boiled up some and rinsed my hair with it, oh and it was so soft 😀
So now instead of buying and prepping conditioner I will just keep growing Rosemary and save some money to use elsewhere on more essential stuff...well at least until I find alternative to that as well 😆

What money saving alternative have you guys come up with?

Not quiet the same thing - but couldn't see were else this could go.

Think I discovered by accident a mossie and ant repellant while I was seeking a fly repellant.

It's 1 part Citronella Oil to 7 parts Water and shake well before each use. (put mix in a bottle with a spray nozzel attached).
I sprayed where one of our seats are on the verandah and around the door then spotted an ant trail heading to dogs food dish. So sprayed aroud the dish and were the ant trail was.
Result - the odd mossie ATM (loc-Nth Qld Aust) ants changed to another trail - sprayed there, now no ants. Oh - and a reduced number of flies around the door.

May be too early yet to get real excited - but early results show great promise.

Have yet to try it on myself as a repellant yet - wait for pesky bugs to get a little more active - wont be long before mossies are out in full force, as the flies already started.
Will report back with a run down of success or fail.

I'm old, tired and crotchety - what's your excuse???
