I am trying to do some dehydrated snacks so they taste like the kind you buy in the store. To my horror a lot of those snacks are actually deep fried before dehydrating. Someone suggested to me to dip my banana slices in pineapple juice before drying to make them taste closer to store bought. It didn't work as well as I thought but it was closer.
Anyone know of any tricks or tips for making something that tastes closer to store bought?
As you suggested - the bananas are deep fried and therefore not good for you anyway. Why try to replicate - give your taste buds a new sensation - something different and healthier! I have heard that dipping them in honey and then dehydrating them is pretty good but personally I like 'em straight!

Try Ontario fruit like strawberries, apples, and raspberries because when TSHTF or oil prices skyrocket, there won't be alot of bananas around here anyway....
Good point, get use to the stuff the grow in your area. i was thinking maple syrup would be better to sweeten item's. I had the best hot rods, like jerky make from deer, it was so yummy. Fruit leather is great, buy it in season . last a long time persevered in its own sugars.
aww the 100 mile diet, I am trying to do that
