3 very old oil lamps that will get reconditioned over the coming weeks here in my shop. Also shopping around for a wood stove to put in the shop as well. Also put on another batch of beer and a batch of red wine on Wednesday.

Added a couple boxes of .308, extra canned veggies and soup, an extra flat of water and extra kids multi vitamins. Bought a home hardware night light / emergency light combo; a little pricey but very bright! Finally, put on the winter tires on both vehicles, just in time for the first dump (coincidence rather than last minute, the appointment had been booked a while ago).

Completed 6 box traps for live catching squirrels and rabbits
For my belly 😉
I am taking a coffee break right now and will finish my first multi catch steel trap for pigeons
Also for my belly 😉
There is a big grain mixing mill down the road and hope he will let me try it out there
After the pigeon trap will start building pheasant trap 💡

Traps eh? Lord knows where you get your recourse of knowledge from, as many here have been trained by their elders, but since you mentioned these methods to me I think I'll go to youtube and check them out. Is this a good idea? Perhaps you have some links you'd like to share? I'm very interested in learning as many ways to eat as possible.

I just picked up a solar charger, the most compact sleeping bag(Not very useful this time of year, but still...) I've ever seen, a new black assault backpack to downsize my bug out bag, and rain pants, which I desperately needed as you can't long distance bike for days and be soaking wet in the cold at the same time.

There was a lady up here from the South Eastern area of the States. Said she tried our squirrel up here and it tasted like turpentine. 😯

Aside from a few peanuts from the neighbours...all I see them eat is pinecone seeds and thrown out sandwiches from the Salvation Army vans' patrons.

AHH squirrel
You are rite in the north country squirrels do eat pine cones
I am in the to the west of London and I am surrounded by maple, beach, oak, sumac and black walnut
If you want your friends and family to fall in love with squirrel here is the way to do it

1) Cut squirrel into 7 pieces
4 legs
split back in two
place breast in whole
2) Heat a small amount of bacon fat in large cast iron dutch oven
3) Generously brown on all sides
4) Add 1 medium onion per animal and cook till translucent
5) Add 2-3 cloves fresh garlic at same time, season with a pinch of fresh ground salt and pepper
6) Add one link of game sausage per animal cook and cut into chunks
7) Add water to cover at least 2 inches above the meat
8) Simmer until meat is tender (approx. 3 hours add more water as required)
9) Gravy may be thickened with a little flour if you like
10)* SECRET INGREDIANT A COUPLE TABLE SPOONS OF RED WINE FOR THE POT AND FOR THE COOK*
I like to serve with dumplings or most times with fresh fry bread

Options
I like to add pigeon, pheasant or grouse breast at step three
Pork sausage may be used , I like honey garlic
Chicken stock can be substituted for water

You are sure to enjoy this recipe !!!!

This recipe works good with any small game or even domestic animals
I think variety of flavors is what makes it so good

I bought a hand pump I am going to mount on top of my well casing and run a line down beside the existing lines of the electric pump.

Bought one of these from Canadian Tire, surprisingly not all Canadian Tire stores have them in stock. They weren't on sale, but I decided to drop by Canadian Tire, because there was some sort of $5.00 scratch and save going on.
