When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.
Day 23 –
We spent most of our time today breaking down meat into smaller meal sized packages. We had a couple of whole turkeys and some pork loins that we bought on sale from one of our trusted stores. We buy larger sized packages and break them down for freezing. With our food production having no real protein, we are stocking up on it as much as possible.
We’re starting to see some actual ground poking out from under the snow now. While the established gardens are still covered with a couple feet of snow, some of the areas we have planned out are getting clearer. While it’s encouraging, it isn’t ready for digging yet as the ground is still somewhat frozen. We can however start cleaning up the ground of debris left from winter.
We’ve also tapped into our network of prepper friends. While we have no one local that we network with, there is still a lot of valuable opinions out there that can help us decide on issues we have less experience with. One of them even decided to send us some seed potatoes. Prepper networking is a must, even if they are not local!
