Covid-19 : Our Bug In Day 24

When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.

Day 24 –

Finally got outside for some yard cleanup. It’s not as exiting as it sounds as there is really only a couple square yards that are snow free, but I did get a couple piles of winter junk raked up. Unfortunately, I still can’t get the wheelbarrow to the dumping pile near the back of the property. Still a few weeks yet until we lose that much snow pack, but at least it’s a start. Right now, any progress is welcome.

Getting outside in the yard for a while also got me thinking about all the stuff that will need to get done in a couple of weeks. Tree trimming, raised bed building, along with all the spring repairs to the house and wood shed…lot’s to keep me busy soon.

I’m grateful for all the stuff I haven’t gotten rid of that a lot of folks would consider junk. An old tempo frame and some aluminum sheets from an old shed should come in handy for raised beds. We’ve also got some semi rotted wood lying around, so perhaps a hugel bed if I can find a spot for it.

The police frequency is really starting to come alive! There are people calling the police on stores that refuse to close. The latest was a dollar store that claimed they were an essential business because they sell food. People have way too much time on their hands.

More news tomorrow…
