Spaceweather.com has issued a G3 geomagnetic storm watch for Aug.18th and 19th. A series of CMEs will be grazing earth’s atmosphere, causing the watch to be issues. While none of the CMEs is strong enough to individually create a G3 storm, the combined effects is what prompted the watch. A screen shot of the email notice is shown below.

G3 class storms are considered to be “strong” and can impact a variety of terrestrial systems.
Power systems may require voltage corrections and some overload protective devices can be triggered causing power outages.
Radio systems can also experience intermittent propagation issues.
