More Fear Porn

Fear mongering and fantasy prepping is once again abound in the Canadian preparedness community. You Tubers, bloggers, et al seem to be at it again. But why?

I really can’t tell who’s to blame for the garbage information that continuously circulates around the preparedness community. Honestly, I always ask myself is it the fault of the people who shovel the crap, or those that treat it as gold?

One great example comes from a very popular Canadian preparedness You Tube personality. It was not so long ago that we heard a doomsday warning from him that we would see a population killing sized famine by this year’s harvest and that we were all of course going to die unless bla bla bla.

Well the time has come for this You Tube fear porn pusher to put up or shut up. Are you wondering what happened? In suspense to see if he backed off this ridiculous prediction? Maybe you were, but I called it way back then. He did what they all do when their predictions turn out to be bogus…he doubled down and came out with more fear porn. Seems it happens like this EVERY TIME!!!

You see there are three types of people out there that try to get information out to the preparedness community. The first type is the follower, more commonly known as the copy/paste prepper or the regurgitator. These fellows take whatever seems to be popular at the moment and repost, reblog, re everything in an effort to be one of the cool kids that are “in the know”.

The second type is the realistic type. The ones who have ignored the fear porn, realized that tea candles under a couple of clay flower pots won’t heat your dinner let alone a room, and make an effort to share personal experiences, including failures.

Now we have the third type. These ones are just down right dangerous. They grab your attention with click bait titles and play on fantasy scenarios, presenting them as fact, or at least imminent dangers. Their goal is to make money off your backs. Don’t buy into it, in the end they are laughing at your gullibility harder than the guy who started the flat earth thing, and laughing all the way to the bank. Pay extra special attention to those that offer to sell you the “cure” for the problem they have just created.

A great example of false information being tossed into the trash can be found in this video…

Reasonable preppers need to start standing up to these people. They do nothing to help improve the public perception of preparedness, which ultimately leads to less people being prepared. In addition, they distract from the real dangers and situations that preppers should be keeping in mind.
