2019-NCoV – What You Don’t Need To Know.

Can there be such a thing as too much information? You bet there can!

If you are like most anyone in the world, you’ve been doing your due diligence and at the very least, keeping an eye on the novel coronavirus that is affecting China, and to an extent, the rest of the world. In doing so, like me, you’ve gleaned some very useful information, but likely have also come across the hysterical rantings of a select few that seem to be hell bent promoting some pretty wild theories about the virus.

In all likelihood, you’ve gotten some pretty useful information on the virus itself such as how easily it spreads, and also how you can protect yourself at least to some degree. Heck, you’ve probably read dozens of discussions on the effectiveness of masks. Also, I’m sure you also have been reading or watching discussions on it’s origins. Was it really from a wet market in China? Perhaps it was a top secret bioweapon stolen from a Canadian lab? Who cares! I’ve seen countless theories about it’s origin, including the lizzard beings from outer space, but none of them, I repeat NONE OF THEM, have anything to teach me about my personal protection or that of my family.

Doing the things should be top priority. Doing the things that prepare us to take care of our families, doing the things that protect us to what ever degree possible, doing the things that need to get done. It isn’t hard to get caught up in the gathering of information. It also isn’t hard to confuse information for intelligence. Intelligence is both verifiable and actionable whereas information cannot always be confirmed and is more often than not inactionable. Getting caught up with the endless theories about the origin or root cause of a specific threat leads to inaction due to a sort of paralysis. Allowing ourselves to concentrate on these topics will certainly take time and energy away from our preparations and planning.

In the end, you have two choices. You can inform yourself on how to take precautions or you can spend countless hours on the internet looking into the cause, be that bat soup or Agenda 54, or whatever the ominous powers that be is supposedly up to these days.

To give credit where credit is due, this post was inspired by a video put out by Bear Independent. To have a look at what he has to say, which is put much more succinctly than I am able to do, have a look here.
