Covid-19 : Our Bug In Day 6

When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.

Day 6 –

Looking at supplies that aren’t really part of our preparedness plan we are considering a supply run before the infection numbers get too high. Simple things such as de icing salt and such, with some last minute banking maybe. I’ll be doing a run for the salt tomorrow (Thursday) and will wear some PPE. Not just for protection, but I want to gauge the reaction, especially from the guys at the home center in town as I’m a well known regular there…should be interesting and I’m sure there will be a few jokes back and forth at the service counter!

That also means it’s time to shave the winter beard off! Oh joy, the mrs. is really gonna hate that! A friend of mine once referred to facial hair as “the push up bra for men”!

Business has to continue here at home. While the Mrs is busy on the phone and on email selling whatever she can, I actually have to receive, open, and sort deliveries. Then repack, print labels, ad get stuff to the post office. Hopefully the postal counters will remain open at least for a while…without Canada Post, my business tanks! I’m seriously considering posting a sign for delivery people to drop off at a distance from the front door and leave.

We had our first post-bug in delivery yesterday, and while we have everything we need to take care of it, we were caught a little off guard. Easy enough to figure out though, and now have SOPs in place for this…adjustment of your plans is essential, so be ready to handle stuff you hadn’t thought about.

More news tomorrow!
