When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.
Day 15 –
Meeting after meeting, trade show after trade show everything is getting cancelled. Getting money back for these things is becoming a challenge. While organizations continue to cancel everything, they are being tight lipped about refunds! Some of them will likely want to keep deposit money in anticipation of rescheduling. We’ll see what happens, but right now, keeping peoples’ money is getting to be a pain in the butt.
Quebec’s infections continue to rise, with Montreal getting hit hard. There’s talk about closing Montreal off, which would be easy to do since it’s an island. Our decision to move out of Montreal years ago seems to be paying off now. Not the kind of place I would want to be stuck in.
All that talk about closing off certain cities is an indication that things are gonna get worse, and the powers that be know it. They’re just trying to ease us into it so we don’t panic and perhaps revolt. There are two thoughts about this and I get both sides, I really do, but right or wrong isn’t the question…it’s how to deal with it, process it, then store it up in memory for the next time.
It may soon be impossible for us to travel outside our county. While counties in Quebec are quite large and we could easily survive without long distance travel, it’s unsettling to say the least. A lot of people thought that the idea of a widespread lockdown wouldn’t happen, but I’ll bet some of them are having second thoughts now. Time to triple check everything.
