Covid-19 : Our Bug In Day 41

When the WHO declared the global pandemic, I knew right away that things were going to get ugly. As of March 13th 2020, I have decided that my family needs to go into a bug in situation. This was always the plan, the proverbial trigger has been pulled! Here is a daily update on what we face.

Day 41 –

I had really thought when this started that home security would be a issue. I guess all the crime has been concentrated in commercial areas. I have however elevated my situational awareness when I’m out and about, especially while waiting in line to get into a store, or coming to the end of an aisle while shopping. Some people get it, and some don’t!

Speaking of shopping, back to the stores today. Whoever wants to try to tell me there is no shortages can go fly a long stringed kite off a short pier! The basics are being limited (rationed) and they still can’t keep the shelves stocked. It seems that orders simply aren’t coming in. Today’s trip showed a shortage of toilet paper (ya, still a thing), flour (completely empty, not a bag to be found in 2 grocery stores), canned soups, vegetables (frozen or canned), and rice.

I picked up a 2 week supply today of meat, and will venture out again tomorrow. For now I don’t see a shortage, but beef seems to be going up in price. That’s OK, plenty of pork, poultry and fish to be had. We are only buying sale items at this point to stretch our dollars out. Alright, who’s kidding who, we do that all the time.

More news tomorrow…
