Got our wicking for our oil lamps. The stuff was sold by the foot, at a really cheap price, so I got lots. Beats the heck out of paying $7.00 for a package of 6- 4 inch pieces, that are not really long enough for our big lamps.

Went into Hipperson's hardware store in down town Nelson (right on Baker Street) to get something else. Ended up looking in their meager camping section, where I almost always seem to end up. The clerk asked if I needed anything and I told him 1in wick fir oil lamps. He handed me a big roll that had to be a foot across, and said to take it to the sales desk and they would cut off any amount I wanted. It was $1.37 a foot. I got 3 feet. It is a really small store....affiliated with Home Hardware, but they are super helpful. Their address is Hipperson Hardware Co Ltd 395 Baker Street Nelson B.C. V1L 4H6 ph 250 352 5517. Also dehydrated 5 lbs apples.

Hope this helps KK

De cluttering. We have installed some metal shelving for food storage as the plastic ones were getting wobbly under the weight. Did some bulk purchasing of toilet paper, powdered milk, rice, pasta and some canned goods. Prepared a couple of buckets of food to squirrel away. This is essentially a home made version of the many 25 year prepper food buckets sold everywhere for $100+ that is costing us about $20 and good for about 3 years... Then we open it and eat the content, repeat 😉

Bought a solar battery charger along with 2 doz AA and a dozen AAA batts. Also picked up a 3 pack of "no-name" LED "tactical" flashlights for $19, put one in each vehicle and night stand.

Was gifted a single axle 15' camper. Have it guted and almost ready for new 12v wiring and insulation. Big job but it'll be worth it when done. Having extra storage space for gear and and supplys is awesome. This is trailer reno number 4 for me. Plan is is for basic shelter. Couple 12v lights and plugs for charging, cd player radio and my ham.. Two deep cycle batteries and a pannel. Bed with storage underneath and small bunk above it at one end futon at the other. My wife loves the idea of having it packed and ready to go if our current location becomes nfg. Another peace of mind.

36 cans diced tomatoes
20 pkgs assorted pasta
dehydrated mint for tea
cycled half of my gas storage

most importantly, sat down with DW and assessed our food storage, discussed potential MAG members, and began to plan our annual trip to the Jean Talon Market in Montreal for our produce stock up and how to preserve what we will be getting.
These discussions are important and we try to have them on a regular basis.

No frills had pork roasts on at $2. a pound. Got 3 really big ones and cut them up. 10 roasts for the freezer, with each one giving the two of us at least 2 meals. Also got 2 more bags of cough candies and another flat of canning jars. Topped up our flats of water two weeks ago when No Frills had 15 packs for $1. Bought 17; I know, it's an unusual number, but it is what our car would hold that day, considering we had a passenger, who was also shopping.
