Got the maintenance done on our little holiday camper including new bearings and 2 new 6 volt batteries to replace the single old 12 that we bought it with 8 years ago. We've only camped once so far this year but hunting season is coming up and when it's minus 10 or minus 30, it's nice to have that furnace run all night without the generator 😎
Also picked up a 60w solar panel at Canadian Tire for 50% off a month or so ago to keep a trickle charge running.
Picking up some peat moss and burlap next weekend as it is time to harvest the carrots and potatoes. Drying racks are ready for the onions and garlic. Eventually we'll learn to can the tomatoes rather than just eat them off the plant 😳
Bought an Aloe Vera plant. Saved red and green pepper seeds. Bought spinach, nasturtium and zinnia seeds. Made 2L of corn relish. Stocked up on some canning Jars ( superstore had 500ml fancy wide mouths marked down to $3.22 = 50% off).
More water, canned foods for the storage area, dried milk and dried onions to be sealed and Mylar packed.
I made 9 quarts of pickled cauliflower.
I'm the lady you're stuck behind in the grocery store with the over loaded cart filled with cases of tuna, peanut butter, huge bags of rice and the weary looking husband
Dollyndrew: looks yummy!
On our side, another Costco trip so: 3-4 months paper products on hand, extra canned veggies of all kind.
Still experimenting with gardening here, hoping to see squashes coming out soon.
Had a decent deal on ammo so both a bit. Rotated bottled water stored (bought fresh ones, drinking old ones...).
Finished reading the A. American novel series, it's an entertaining way to learn some tricks on prepping. It has a few clichés in there, but all in all, I would give it a thumb up, especially the first book.
I forgot that I also ordered some new first aid supplies after doing the inventory of my kits.
Got going on the greenhouse project. Still a going......
Picked up 4 quail hens. Built a wee quail house 🙂
A couple of pails packed with dry food, each worth about 5 days of food for the family.
-Baefeng ham radio handheld (just started the course)
-Rain barrel
-Lifestraw Family water filter..I already have a lifestraw for my BOB but the Family one for larger quantity filtering
-Coconut oil
-Solar USB battery bank, USB charger for AAA, and oodles of AAAs for the ham radio

"The thing about smart mother f*ckers, is that they sometimes sound like crazy mother f*ckers to dumb mother f*ckers." -Abraham .”
Grain, water purifier, firestarter
All our firewood stacked, under cover. We now have around 15 cords put up. 6 of those cords are for next year as they are not cured well enough to burn, yet. Also added water to our stores, as well as another jug of kerosene for the oil lamps.
Three quarters of the way through the green house project 🙂
Lost two quail - they're fast!
One grocery bag of additions to the food storage. Walmart had cans of Primo Soup on for $1 with a date of 2017 on them. Anyone else notices an additional 0.37 or 0.38 cents added to a lot of things this weekend that have previously been only a dollar? That's a bit of a hike.....
Walmart's price on Waterbridge chocolate went from $3.79 to $4.49 in one big jump. I did notice a lot of things went up a lot, very quickly. Maybe that is a bit of a warning for more price hikes.....I hope not, but fear it is!
Given that Ebola has now crossed the atlanntic, I had a very serious sit down discussion with DW...
What will we do if it comes to Canada...Quebec...Montreal?
Who will be sheltered here?
Who will NOT be sheltered here?
What will the procedure be for late arrivals who may be infected?
Who will do what, depending on our specific locations at the time the trigger event occurs?
What will our security procedures be?
How will we be keeping informed to know if our trigger event occurs?
Lots to think about...and lots of issues have been sorted out.
