Hi guys thanks for the input

I am slowly spreading the message of prepping - I promise to take one of my student shopping at MEC and DS tactical.
I will also give some goodies from the army to her. I love the idea of level 1 group and level 2 group. It seems to make sense

Hi Syn are you in Richmond ? would you like to meet up ?

Human competition indeed is a big problem. Canada actually have the biggest fresh water resource around the world and as time progress it is the number 1 resources others will want from us.
Overall, Vancouverites are so ill -prepare regarding with disaster and conflict. People here are so ill prepared and have no idea what's like outside of Vancouver.

I'd bone up on the sins of mass industrial production that meets our consumer demands and I'd take them on a tour through a big chain grocery store giving the low down on what, and how, food product ( and other consumer goods from personal care sundries to pharmaceuticals ) get on thier own plate , more people will die of degenerative diseases, heart disease, strokes and cancer ( cancer continuously climbing is statistically calculated to spread 40 percent more with our current lifestyle and exposures) . More people on any north american prepper forum will die prematurely of this than of combat or bugging out ill prepared . Indeed even more of your clientele and friends will die prematurely of these health issues .
You can also emphasize the just in time distribution networks and how precarious that can be in a crisis and how climate changes will impact the costs and availability of food product and how people can make better choices and start working on their own resiliency. You can touch on the GMO issue and the fact that genetics of food plants are being patented and open pollinated crops are slowly disappearing and how growing local organic food and seed saving is KEY to food sovereignty . Once a year I believe the UBC farm is open free to the public end of summer I think and I would rally up some of these affiliates to go and learn what can be grown in our climate, maybe even familiarize them organizing them to go berry picking in season, maybe gleaning from crops after harvest , maybe organize to tour a small local CSA upstart ( consumer supported agriculture) and see what they grow and what their business model is and give them a hand on harvest day to give people an example of alternatives that involve them closer to real local food production . There is a weekend every summer where fraser valley farmers of all sorts open to public tours and each destination would be a wealth of information how local production operates from wine to artisan cheese making, edible flowers, to turkey production and so on, these farms are open to explore, answer questions . A Rocha is a christian organic farm movement with a farm on the Langley/Surrey border that would likely welcome an organized day trip and they have a strong environmental habitat rehabilitation component to their work with an emphasis on people coming together to cooperatively grow food and work to live well on this planet . And of course another outing to build cooperation and comradery in good weather could be camping, fishing, a rented canoe paddle in Pitt lake . All of this can be done to open peoples eyes to preparedness in one form or another . Through the course of these meet ups and outings you will undoubtedly see some people who have strong instincts , are enthusiastic to cooperatively explore prepping ideas and who have good character whom you would like to network with.

Hay Syn. It sounds like someone needs a hug. Don't feel dissed. I recently had someone say the same thing to me. Periodically I cant hold it all in and explode and they call it crazy talk. Occasionally it just has to come out. Most of the problems we face are not situational but systemic...but most people, if they can deal with it at all, can only deal with the situational. If OLF has YOUNG students...best to start them off on food, water, hypothermia and getting along with others that look or act different from them. I'm trying to figure out how to do a post called "Peak Oil Beatches" about how dropping oil prices is a predicted, counterintuitive sign of collapse. As we are now awash in oil, it will come off as crazy talk. OLF wont do well quoting me at this point. Taking his students for a walk through china town is far more educational. Situational awareness...and that food and food preservations is far different than the Stuper Store and 1001 versions of KD fake food. 1 Block away is the apocalypse zone that most privileged suburbanites cant even begin to imagine as their future. Oh no. I've said too mutch. C5 crazy talk

While we are here...While I typed, "while we are here"...I can think of 7 ways to KILL another human being with my body alone. Give me a few minutes and I may come up with some more. I don't mention this on IPN...because A, It was a Phase. B I'm just barely knowledgeable about humans in general that I don't feel comfortable teaching that to potential killers. C, I consider it a distraction to the Real things people need to stay alive...and, D, I never thought I would get this old. My warrior days are long done. Good riddance.
The same Group member that said I need a hug (Let me hype him a bit by saying he came over The Wall. Yes, That Wall) Said the problem with Prepping...is that it is only a starting point. Once you are prepped...you should move on...to something else I am still trying to articulate. For the last year, I have been figuring out how to say, "I'm stopping prepping......because I am Prepped" Im not sure what the next phase is. Some group members are onto permaculture. Others are exploring Co-ops. I'm not sure what's next for me.
OLF, You should get this. A Black belt is not a destination. A black belt is just...the beginning of training because you now officially know the basics. Shelter. Calories Imputed. No. Created to input. Competent hydration. Security of person. Then onto the brown belt. Functional socialisation. Relating with other competent brown belt losers like yourself. The black belt is, you have a group. The reality is its just a bunch of clueless Black belts with their knots in their hands figuring what to do next.
Me, I have to move away from preppers to find more community oriented people...but I cant help you. I'm trying to find it myself. I'll let you know as I trip over my 3rd and 4rth prepper Dan.
Ive been saying this for a couple years now. C5 rule of survival- There is no such thin as a prepper expert. Anyone who claims to be is just trying to sell you something, whether that is a product, a service, a religious or political view.
