A Full Day Of Skills, Presentations, Demonstrations, And Community

Saturday at Preppers Meet is shaping up to be a full day of learning, hands-on skills, practical demonstrations, and community time.

Today’s lineup brings together a wide range of preparedness topics, from personal readiness and outdoor skills to communications, water, security, and real-world self-reliance. Whether you are brand new to preparedness or have been living this lifestyle for years, there will be something worth learning, trying, or discussing.

The day begins with yoga led by Che, giving attendees a chance to loosen up, reset, and start the day with a clear head before the busier parts of the schedule get rolling.

Frugal Gunnie will be presenting Firearms Ergonomics: Does the Shoe Fit, a practical look at how fit, comfort, and body mechanics matter when handling firearms safely and effectively. This is the kind of topic that often gets overlooked, but it can make a big difference in confidence, control, and good habits.

Jeremy will be presenting Paring Down: The Unsexy Side of Prepping, a topic that every serious prepper eventually has to face. Preparedness is not always about adding more gear, buying another tool, or stacking another tote in the basement. Sometimes the smarter move is to simplify, organize, reduce duplication, and make sure the things you already have are useful, accessible, and realistic. This is the side of prepping that does not always look exciting online, but it matters when you actually need to use your supplies.

Bugout Dan will be talking about Bug Out Bags, one of the most familiar preparedness topics, but also one of the easiest to get wrong. A good bug out bag is not just a pile of gear in a backpack. It needs to match your body, your route, your environment, your family situation, and the kind of emergency you are actually preparing for.

Tell will be bringing outdoor bushcraft knowledge to the day with Bushcraft Duck and Rabbit Smoking. This is the kind of old-school food preservation and outdoor cooking skill that connects directly to practical self-reliance. Knowing how to preserve meat, use smoke, and work with simple tools has real value when refrigeration, fuel, or modern conveniences are limited.

Jeff will be covering Water Basics, a core topic in any preparedness plan. Water is one of those things people often assume they have covered until they actually start calculating how much they need, how they will move it, how they will store it, and how they will make it safe. This session is a good reminder that water preparedness is not just about owning a filter.

Eric Pinkerton will be leading a session on Ham Radio, possibly with a Baofeng focus. Communications are a major part of preparedness, especially when cell service is overloaded, unavailable, or unreliable. For many people, affordable handheld radios are the first step into emergency communications, but understanding what they can and cannot do is just as important as owning one.

Zachary Gault will be running the Fire Starting Challenge, giving attendees a chance to test and improve one of the most basic outdoor survival skills. Fire is heat, light, cooking, morale, and sometimes signalling. It is also a skill that gets much harder when conditions are wet, windy, cold, or stressful, which is why practice matters.

Disaster Dave will be presenting on Home Security, another key preparedness topic that starts long before an emergency happens. Good security is about awareness, planning, layers, habits, and making your home less vulnerable without turning everyday life into paranoia.

There will also be drop-in skill activities throughout the day, including slingshot, archery, axe throwing lessons, knife skills, knot practice, and kids archery. These hands-on activities are a great chance to try something new, sharpen an old skill, or introduce younger attendees to safe and supervised outdoor practice.

Later in the day, Che and Dean will be making a special announcement, followed by a Canadian Prepper Podcast appearance with Eric Pinkerton. That will be another great opportunity to connect the conversations happening at Preppers Meet with the broader Canadian preparedness community.

The day wraps up with a social gathering and casual chats with apocalyptic music. This is where a lot of the real value of Preppers Meet happens: people talking, sharing stories, comparing notes, making connections, and finding out that they are not the only ones thinking seriously about preparedness.

Come ready to learn. Come ready to participate. Come ready to ask questions, meet people, and get involved.

Saturday is not just about sitting through presentations. It is about practicing skills, meeting the community, and taking another step toward real self-reliance.

See you at Preppers Meet.
