NOTE: IT HAS BEEN POINTED OUT THAT JULY 21 IS THE SUNDAY, WE WILL BE MEETING ON THE SATURDAY WHICH IS JULY 20, AND FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN SPENDING THE EVENING, FEEL FREE TO JOIN US.
Heya,
First off, I would like to apologize for not setting up this meeting sooner. But with vacation in Ontario, Gardening, and the remanufacture of my greenhouse time got away from me.
Sooooooo, After scouring the countryside for a suitable site for our next meetup, we feel we have found the perfect place. Where else can you descend down a raging waterfall, to a lake that is blue beyond description. Ok Ok, I'll describe it. It's BLUE. Really Really Blue. After being a diver for 30 years, I can officially say...... its BLUE.
Screedcrete and I took to the mountains today, (with Cash the Wonder Dawg, our faithfull bear early warning system) to find the next meet up site. We hiked what must have felt like 35 km (or was that 3.5 km? remember..... we are old guys. bad memories, and lack of directional control) and found we didn't like the first place we found, so we opted for Plan B, a hike down a raging waterfall north of Mission. Much to our surprise, the hike was relatively geezer friendly. We passed families with little children in tow, so I know this is a doable trip for anyone interested in hooking up for a get-together, do some swimming, and maybe even spend the night under the stars chatting about prepping, world politics and what the heck was that noise directly behind you.
I'm still jacked about the view and the leisurely hike ...... so bear with me. Saturday, July 21 we will be hooking up at Davis Lake (north east of Mission BC) for a get together. The game plan is to spend the day socializing and, for those who are interested, spend the night and camp under the stars, chatting and bonding. The option to spend the night is yours.
For those who are interested, Take Lougheed Hwy 7 east through Mission and continue east to Sylvestre Rd. There is a Husky station at the corner if you have forgotten any items. Head north (that is turn left for those coming from Vancouver, right, for those coming from Agazzis). When you hit the end of the paved road, continue up the 'large grained' gravel road for approximately 2.2 km. You will go over a small bridge that stretches over a beautiful waterfall. There is parking to the left when you clear the bridge. Grab your gear and follow the path, next to the waterfall, down to the lake. We will be hanging out there. Be advised, that there is no washroom facilities, so you either do the bear thing in the woods, or, take a dip in the lake... yuck.
For those who are interested in spending the night, great, there is room for lots of nylon accomodations, for those you just want to come out and say Hi, GREAT!!!
We feel this is a perfect opportunity to come out, say Hello, G-day, Howdy, How's it Goooooin, Eh. Chat with Preppers, and maybe even spend the night it the woods. If you are interested, come on down and visit, even if it's just for a while. Any questions, please PM myself or Screedcrete.

DAMN! This one really sucks! 😥 Not only am I not there, I'm going be working for my wife at Billy Barker Days here that weekend so I can't even to a temporary disappearing act. I have an idea for a home made "sleep system" I want to try out and that would have be a great time to try it, besides the in-laws are on Stave Lake Rd. hop-skip and short jump away. Going to try and convince my brother in law to come out, might work since it is close by.

Heya DogLover,
I know the feeling. My wife's 'ToDo' list is so long, I have to call in sick even ON MY DAYS OFF. This site we found has a nice little beach, lots of flat shady spots for setting up camp. And what a VIEW. (ok, do you REALLY wanna do Billy Barker days now? HAHA) I know, I know, happy wife, safe to sleep at night ...er.... happy wife, happy life. Did I mention how BLUE the water is? Blue I tell ya, Blue! BTW the comfrey is thriving. Thanks.

Hi Preppersaurus
Glad to here the comfrey made it wasn't sure I got enough root or not. I know the lake and area you are going to, it really is as nice and yes darn it, I would sneak out if I could. As you say, happy wife = happy life. 🙂

If not a cast iron fry pan, maybe tin foil would fit the bill ?
Wrap the fish in tin foil and toss it into the coals for a while. Haven't done that in a while so don't remember how long, just that it was great!
Comfery does grow wild in some places, usually any where its been dumped.
Look forward to seeing you again Screedcrete, let me know if/when.
The "sleep System" I am thinking about goes something like this: Outer layer: Gortex top and bottom Middle layer: Wool Blanket top and bottom Inner Layer: Polar Fleece top and bottom Extra Insulation Layer on bottom: heavy thermal blanket, available at Cdn Tire sew it together like a sleeping bag, grab a foam pad an your done. Now for the shelter, a camo ATV cover, from Wal-Mart (I think that's where we got it) or where ever you can get one, some para-cord, for tying it up, and you now have a relatively warm bed and a shelter for the night. What it the ground a little softer? Get some fir boughs and/or ferns and lay them down first. Hadn't thought of using a hammock, but it would make an interesting addition. Going to have to think about that one.

Just a quick note, Sat is July 20. Is on the sat, or Sunday the 21? I am guessing sat tho
The lake is very nice. I used to 4wheel there. Didnt know it was a provincial park. 😳 It wasnt until they started all the work at the other end (NW side) that I was informed of that. I went home and checked a map. And behold it was green park all around the lake.
I am going to try to stop by and say hi after the Cruisers 4x4 car/truck show in mission that day
