Oh I'm so scared of getting to the point of someone wanting to eat my pet!!! There was an article on the internet about how the French ate all the animals of their zoo, including their much prized elephants. I'd gladly eat bugs, I think it's important to get informed on this alternate source of protein. Does anyone know if there's any poisonous bugs?

Also, could you eat rats, bats, mice without worrying about disease provided you cooked them well. Or is there chance of getting the hunta virus or rabies or whatever?

I would never eat Bats, I like them too much and they are beneficial.

People eat Rats/Mice and bugs all over the world. Look at the links posted first page for info on Bugs. For Rodent meals, you would need to ascertain if the rodent is sickly first, those should never be eaten, same as any other critter.

I would be cooking up bugs and mice long before my Dog!

LOL!! That was my piece to survivalblog, I won a $30 gift card for it. I'm glad to see you all had so much fun with it.

If your home library contains more volumes about survival-related topics than your local public library, you might be a prepper.

I think its the texture that turns most people off.... grind em up put them in a smoothie and I would eat them... cricket farming could become a respectable job.

Deep fried maggots are ok. They eat bugs in China and fried them for us picky types to get us started.; they eat them any which way. We called them crispy critters. I've eaten live termites. Little tiny things running around in your mouth. You would have to eat a whole nest of them to fill up. Just open up and swallow. They are too small and quick for chewing.

You shouldn't have an issue with the meal worms but you may with the king worms. If you find after a few weeks nothing is happening send me a pm.

Btw king worms can bite. No hard, kind of like a pinch 🙂
